However, I wonder how the letter would originally had looked like; I mean, though love bursts conversational limits, what "lingua franca" and what script the lovers would use ... Well, I'm tending to Old Turkic (probably too old) or Uighuric Mongolian . Or would it rather be Persian Arabic ? – Just (unromantic) guesses, and depends on the era of course.
You seem to have Kipchak roots (or at least fundamental interests); why not learn Chagatai or Osman? You could occasionally use it in your stories.

As kipchaks used runic script I think Polovtsi also can use them ~ some story literature says people even was 2 language the both can speak ancient russian lang and kipchaq same time, specially those who lived on border line. anyway there can also used mongol script as some of kipchak was merged with golden horde army when invasion happend ~ but I am not sure all slavic people can read it that times.
