Description
Polish electric freight locomotive created in 1954 by Pafawag in Wrocław. The locomotive was created in cooperation with the British, who provided designers with plans for locomotives with a rail gauge of 1000 mm for South Africa. In 1954, a prototype of the locomotive was created, and production started a year later. By 1957, 9 locomotives were built and served in the Coal Industry Backing Materials Company in Katowice. The locomotive remained marked 2E (or 2E53) until the end of its operation. The locomotives were slowly phased out in 1989. The locomotive itself served as a model for the 3E locomotive (also known as ET21).
