I love the pic! Especially Midna. She's so awesome! And to answer the question, yes, warmup sketching does seem to help most of the time. It kind of depends on what I'm drawing.

I personally think when you do warm up sketches, with every sketch a few good ideas leave and by the time you start drawing your real project you're completely drained. But that's just with me. For others it gives them even better ideas but I guess it depends. Great art. You do fantastic animals.

Actually, yes. Our teacher takes one hour from a 4-hour-long lesson, just to train us with scetches. We haaate this, but it's really useful!! Warms you up, "open your eyes", and the main picture has much less failure than you just sit up and draw.

My only critique is that the face of the wolf seems to resemble that of a bear. I think you need to elongate the muzzle and make the eyes a bit smaller. Otherwise, your blending is incredible and the colors are perfect.

Aww such a sweet picture. =3
I don't really use warm up sketches as such, but I do doodle a chibi version of what I want to draw in the corner first.

Interesting.
No, it doesn't help me drawing quick doodles before I start. Only gets worse and worse. It's like I have a quote of inspirations that runs out by the pencil stroke.

About the sketches, yes, I think they can be very helpful sometimes, I usually do a few just get an idea of what I want to draw or just to get some inspiration.
Now, about your draw, they look really cute x3, specially Midna, nice work.

I have to keep some scrap pieces of paper around to do warmups on, because if I don't and I try just drawing what's in my mind it never comes out right and I'm stuck redoing it until I'm somewhat satisfied. Although, sometimes my best drawings started out as warmup doodles. XD

Yep sketches always help me... or don't help if I can't think of anything.
I tend to do lots of flowing chaotic doodles like with birds, dragons and deep sea fish...

yes it dose it helps you get your hand ready to curve and bend with the drawing and trust me a lot of people need to do that
