Description I get to do homework all day so I thought I'd warm up by doodling wolvessss

Do you guys think you draw better if you draw a bunch of warm-up sketches first?

Not really... on the contrary I think that sometimes when you start drawing directly, especially if you're inspired, you make better things
for example, I never do sketches firt, or very rarely ( in fact...I love make sketches xD but not to preparing for a final picture)
only sometimes when with the initial sketch, for example, the prospect or the expression I wanted did not come out, but I remain of the view that sometimes the first draft is the better

sorry for long comment or probably errors xD

Your drawings are amazing! And to answer your comment- When I draw warm ups the drawings get worse and worse. Then I don't want to draw anymore-unless I have an inspiration- like really good artists or good songs.( For some reason I want to draw now... )

I drew on mini tests and stuff... ...My teacher thought it was cute-Until it became constant and she stopped writing comments XD (She's my language arts teacher- so I guess she not used to drawings. )

I love the pic! Especially Midna. She's so awesome! And to answer the question, yes, warmup sketching does seem to help most of the time. It kind of depends on what I'm drawing.

I personally think when you do warm up sketches, with every sketch a few good ideas leave and by the time you start drawing your real project you're completely drained. But that's just with me. For others it gives them even better ideas but I guess it depends. Great art. You do fantastic animals.

I do think that warm-up sketches help. Usually I'm lazy and just start going though. End result: crappy picture. Sketching a lot of thumbnails before actually starting a piece helps.

On another note: Midna's expression made be giggle for some reason.

Not really. I usually end up getting distracted and finish my 'sketches' than what I'm supposed to be doing.

Actually, yes. Our teacher takes one hour from a 4-hour-long lesson, just to train us with scetches. We haaate this, but it's really useful!! Warms you up, "open your eyes", and the main picture has much less failure than you just sit up and draw.

My only critique is that the face of the wolf seems to resemble that of a bear. I think you need to elongate the muzzle and make the eyes a bit smaller. Otherwise, your blending is incredible and the colors are perfect.

Aww such a sweet picture. =3

I don't really use warm up sketches as such, but I do doodle a chibi version of what I want to draw in the corner first.

this is from zelda? am i right?

so cute ^^

nope. i can't do warm-ups because my best drawings usually come along the 2nd and 3rd sketches. when it gets to the 5th, im already talentless

This is gorgeous though, I envy anyone that can digitally paint. The style is so nice, and I love the shadows.

Plus that angry wolf there in the corner? Yeah he is cute

Interesting.
No, it doesn't help me drawing quick doodles before I start. Only gets worse and worse. It's like I have a quote of inspirations that runs out by the pencil stroke.

About the sketches, yes, I think they can be very helpful sometimes, I usually do a few just get an idea of what I want to draw or just to get some inspiration.

Now, about your draw, they look really cute x3, specially Midna, nice work.

I have to keep some scrap pieces of paper around to do warmups on, because if I don't and I try just drawing what's in my mind it never comes out right and I'm stuck redoing it until I'm somewhat satisfied. Although, sometimes my best drawings started out as warmup doodles. XD

I tend to do lots of flowing chaotic doodles like with birds, dragons and deep sea fish...
