They had enough money to take care of both children, pay taxes, buy food, the basic nessecities that were needed to keep the family together. Between both of her parents though, their father was certainly considered the "bread-winner" of the family and was the one that brought home most of the income. With that, Hye-mi's first couple of years were steady and easy. During a young age she grew quite attached to her older brother, Yeongho and often followed him around and did whatever she could to be around him whenever their parents were busy. Everything seemed perfectly fine until her father lost his job eventually. With that, their income and amount of wealth went down with him having no job and struggling to find another. Her mother, frustrated and irritated with her own husband, often got into arguments with him whenever it came to money and supporting her. It was obvious that their mother only cared about money for herself and her needs and at some points it seemed like she didn't give a care about her own children. Their father always tried to calm her down and reassure her that he'd find another job and that everything would be fine, but her anger was out of control and it was even worse whenever she came home drunk from drinking the stress away. Because of this, it lead to more heated arguments between the two to the point where she'd try to hit her husband and both children had to be in their rooms in order not to get pulled into the mess or to get harmed. The constant yelling and screaming and fighting between both of Hye-mi's parents scared her at such a young age and she constantly had to be comforted and protected by her older brother while they were huddled together in their rooms while the commotion from her parents went down. By the time that she had turned seven years old and her older brother, eight, both of their parents filed for a divorce and their mother left them behind with their unemployed father.

Things were difficult for the small family after their mother left. With their father still struggling to find a job with a steady income without being fired, they faced a lot of struggled paying for things they needed. Especially whenever it came to school related activities and etc. It was even worse for the children as their father faced a depression for quite a while after the separation from his wife. Which lead to drinking, falling asleep early, a few mood swings here and there but it was nothing bad and neither of the kids ever got harmed, but it did certainly throw them through a loop that left them struggling while growing up. At a young age, they couldn't really do much to support their father. The only thing they could do was try to do well in school but, with such a dreary and depressing home mood, it made things difficult. Hye-mi did have a difficult time concentrating on her academics although she tried to do her best. School life was alright for the most part in her opinion. Sure, she made a couple of friends here and there but they were never super close with each other. In all honesty, she probably didn't really consider anyone to be a close friend of hers and most of the people she knew were just acquaintances. And it wasn't just because of her home environment that it made it difficult to make friends but her personality wasn't always very sweet and she often came off as snobby and rude at some times, which some of the kids at her age couldn't handle as she probably hurt their feelings every now and then. However, her attachment with her older brother never broke during this time and they were still the closest of friends. Although sometimes, their interactions deemed otherwise. As the end of middle school started coming to an end and high school was around the corner, both kids decided to take on small jobs in town to help support their small family as their father still struggled to bring home a good amount of money to keep everything going.

Both children had been sent to a nearby high school by the name of Pyeongon High, mostly because their father couldn't afford to send them to any other high school in the area, fearing that it might be a bit too expensive and that Pyeongon was the best choice, not knowing that tat high school in particular was known for their deliquent activity. By the time Hye-mi was 15 years old, she had started her first year of high school and it was a bit of a wild ride for her. With trying to take on some jobs in the nearby area to help her father out, her grades had begun to get worser over time because she slacked off on her homework and sometimes was caught falling asleep in class. Sometimes, she'd even ditch classes to make it to her job in time because although her academics were somewhat important to her, money was the priority and she needed it. She and her brother both took on various jobs at the time, working hard to get some money here and there. By the time that she was 17 years old, she started taking on multiple jobs that would increase her pay. Such as waitressing, cashiering, anything that was nearby and wherever she could get hired. Her brother had also taken up a couple of jobs as well, often coming home late. From what Hye-mi assumed, he always came home late from working jobs, but after it happened quite often and that he sometimes came home with small injuries and bruises that he always made excuses for, she had gotten suspicious of her older brother and decided to try and figure things out. Upon going to one of the places where he had said he had been working late, she found out that his shfits actually ended earlier than when he was usually coming home. It was then that she knew something was up and decided to follow after him in hopes to find out what he had been up to. Later one night she had waited outside of the place that he usually worked the latest at and followed after him to an unfamiliar and darker part of the town, making sure to stay hidden so he wouldn't find out he was being followed. Upon following Yeongho she had discovered that her brother had taken part in some gang of the sorts which made sense for all the times he came home with bruises and cuts and small injuries. And on that night in particular, the gang he was a part of had initated some sort of fight and although she had tried her best to stay hidden, it wasn't long until her cell phone went off playing some random pop song that she had set as her ringtone. Because of that, she got caught up in the fight and in the end, got dragged home by her older brother, scolding her for following after him and staying to watch since he knew it could have gotten more dangerous. Although on the other hand, she scolded him back as well for lying and even taking part in lowkey illegal gang activities.

However, because her older brother had participated in such, engaging in fights and etc. He had been able to learn some taekwondo from a friend or whatever that was in the gang and some basic street fighting skills too. Or at least, that's what Hye-mi observed from the fight that night that she found everything out. Fascinated by her brother's self defense skills, she begged that he teach her a couple of things too. At first, he was a bit hesitant but after Hye-mi explained that she'd need it to fight off "fuckboys" and "creepy old guys", he agreed to teach her a couple of things that he learned in the past two years of being in that particular gang. She spent a lot of her free time with her older brother, learning self defense from him and sometimes even practicing by herself. Of course, the both of them continued to take on jobs in the area to help their father more as he finally achieved to get a steady job but not with the best of incomes but with them all working, it was enough to support them all for the time being. Both siblings continued to stay at Pyeongon High, deciding it was best to just finish off their last years at the place. Of course, both of them may have gotten involved with a few not so good things at the school but what was there to expect considering the place was full of hot-headed deliquents. Hye-mi just wanted to get high school done and over with and move on with her life at this point and that's what she continued to do as her second year continued.

During a young age she grew quite attached to her older brother, Yeongho and often followed him around and did whatever she could to be around him whenever their parents were busy. Everything seemed perfectly fine until her father lost his job eventually. With that, their income and amount of wealth went down with him having no job and struggling to find another. Her mother, frustrated and irritated with her own husband, often got into arguments with him whenever it came to money and supporting her. It was obvious that their mother only cared about money for herself and her needs and at some points it seemed like she didn't give a care about her own children. Their father always tried to calm her down and reassure her that he'd find another job and that everything would be fine, but her anger was out of control and it was even worse whenever she came home drunk from drinking the stress away. Because of this, it lead to more heated arguments between the two to the point where she'd try to hit her husband and both children had to be in their rooms in order not to get pulled into the mess or to get harmed. The constant yelling and screaming and fighting between both of Hye-mi's parents scared her at such a young age and she constantly had to be comforted and protected by her older brother while they were huddled together in their rooms while the commotion from her parents went down. By the time that she had turned seven years old and her older brother, eight, both of their parents filed for a divorce and their mother left them behind with their unemployed father.

Things were difficult for the small family after their mother left. With their father still struggling to find a job with a steady income without being fired, they faced a lot of struggled paying for things they needed. Especially whenever it came to school related activities and etc. It was even worse for the children as their father faced a depression for quite a while after the separation from his wife. Which lead to drinking, falling asleep early, a few mood swings here and there but it was nothing bad and neither of the kids ever got harmed, but it did certainly throw them through a loop that left them struggling while growing up. At a young age, they couldn't really do much to support their father. The only thing they could do was try to do well in school but, with such a dreary and depressing home mood, it made things difficult. Hye-mi did have a difficult time concentrating on her academics although she tried to do her best. School life was alright for the most part in her opinion. Sure, she made a couple of friends here and there but they were never super close with each other. In all honesty, she probably didn't really consider anyone to be a close friend of hers and most of the people she knew were just acquaintances. And it wasn't just because of her home environment that it made it difficult to make friends but her personality wasn't always very sweet and she often came off as snobby and rude at some times, which some of the kids at her age couldn't handle as she probably hurt their feelings every now and then. However, her attachment with her older brother never broke during this time and they were still the closest of friends. Although sometimes, their interactions deemed otherwise. As the end of middle school started coming to an end and high school was around the corner, both kids decided to take on small jobs in town to help support their small family as their father still struggled to bring home a good amount of money to keep everything going.

Both children had been sent to a nearby high school by the name of Pyeongon High, mostly because their father couldn't afford to send them to any other high school in the area, fearing that it might be a bit too expensive and that Pyeongon was the best choice, not knowing that tat high school in particular was known for their deliquent activity. By the time Hye-mi was 15 years old, she had started her first year of high school and it was a bit of a wild ride for her. With trying to take on some jobs in the nearby area to help her father out, her grades had begun to get worser over time because she slacked off on her homework and sometimes was caught falling asleep in class. Sometimes, she'd even ditch classes to make it to her job in time because although her academics were somewhat important to her, money was the priority and she needed it. She and her brother both took on various jobs at the time, working hard to get some money here and there. By the time that she was 17 years old, she started taking on multiple jobs that would increase her pay. Such as waitressing, cashiering, anything that was nearby and wherever she could get hired. Her brother had also taken up a couple of jobs as well, often coming home late. From what Hye-mi assumed, he always came home late from working jobs, but after it happened quite often and that he sometimes came home with small injuries and bruises that he always made excuses for, she had gotten suspicious of her older brother and decided to try and figure things out. Upon going to one of the places where he had said he had been working late, she found out that his shfits actually ended earlier than when he was usually coming home. It was then that she knew something was up and decided to follow after him in hopes to find out what he had been up to. Later one night she had waited outside of the place that he usually worked the latest at and followed after him to an unfamiliar and darker part of the town, making sure to stay hidden so he wouldn't find out he was being followed. Upon following Yeongho she had discovered that her brother had taken part in some gang of the sorts which made sense for all the times he came home with bruises and cuts and small injuries. And on that night in particular, the gang he was a part of had initated some sort of fight and although she had tried her best to stay hidden, it wasn't long until her cell phone went off playing some random pop song that she had set as her ringtone. Because of that, she got caught up in the fight and in the end, got dragged home by her older brother, scolding her for following after him and staying to watch since he knew it could have gotten more dangerous. Although on the other hand, she scolded him back as well for lying and even taking part in lowkey illegal gang activities.

However, because her older brother had participated in such, engaging in fights and etc. He had been able to learn some taekwondo from a friend or whatever that was in the gang and some basic street fighting skills too. Or at least, that's what Hye-mi observed from the fight that night that she found everything out. Fascinated by her brother's self defense skills, she begged that he teach her a couple of things too. At first, he was a bit hesitant but after Hye-mi explained that she'd need it to fight off "fuckboys" and "creepy old guys", he agreed to teach her a couple of things that he learned in the past two years of being in that particular gang. She spent a lot of her free time with her older brother, learning self defense from him and sometimes even practicing by herself. Of course, the both of them continued to take on jobs in the area to help their father more as he finally achieved to get a steady job but not with the best of incomes but with them all working, it was enough to support them all for the time being. Both siblings continued to stay at Pyeongon High, deciding it was best to just finish off their last years at the place. Of course, both of them may have gotten involved with a few not so good things at the school but what was there to expect considering the place was full of hot-headed deliquents. Hye-mi just wanted to get high school done and over with and move on with her life at this point and that's what she continued to do as her second year continued.
