A fun little deviation from my usual steam locomotive MOCs. Thomas was my gateway drug into the world of steam railways. The design was actually a lot trickier to figure out than I anticipated, and I'm not 100% happy with how it turned out - but it'll do.I plan on incorporating this engine into my planned Lego railway layout too. Steam railways here in the UK often have "Thomas days" where one of their usual locos gets painted blue and fitted with a face, as an attraction for children. So this engine will represent that.

Amazing model! That dip in the running plate looked difficult to capture, but it came out well!

It's a very good minifigure scale Thomas model, mind. ^_^ Better than anything I could make. I imagine if I did make it, I'd probably have to make an Annie with a motor in her.

The model isn't perfect, but definitely looks the part. And now that you compared it to a screenshot from the series, I can see how difficult it looks to replicate the original. However, if the smokebox on your model were just a little bit longer, it would've looked better already.Β

Thanks! Yeah, it was pointed out to me elsewhere that the tank overhang is too long/smokebox too short. I'll most likely tweak this design into a better one at some point.Β

If you mean the series, yeah. The Railway Series (the books that were adapted into the Thomas television series) started in 1945, so the kids who grew up with that are likely grandparents by now!
