Photoshop crashed once, froze four times, and my computer overheated and shut down twice when I was drawing this. I had to start over from mid way saves so many times I almost cried from frustration.Lost a fair amount percent of the canvas, including a horse, Yorda's legs and a few more ruins. This could use more refinement, but I am too cross to work on it more. So there.
I cheated very obviously on the grass. Photoshop brushes, you are my fair good buddies.

Before the official title of Shadow of the Colossus was announced, Team ICO used the working name Nico, or Next Ico. So that explains that? EDIT: No it doesn't! Apparently Ni means two in Japanese? That makes a lot more sense, cheers :usercodecyros:.
Trico is kind of a cute portmanteau. Stupid, but cute.

Also--"Nico/Niko" makes sense if you consider "ni" meaning "two" as you said, and "ko" referring to a child--"two children", which is essentially what Ico is, is it not?

"Niko" is also the "sound" of smiling in Japanse; "niiiko" is like a wide or slow grin, and "nikoniko" is sort of mischievous.
That's what I always thought of when I heard "Nikko".
And also if you read "Ico" like "Iko" it sounds a lot like the Japanese word for "let's go"? XD

I've never played the game, though have always kind of wanted to. This makes me outright want to.
This is gorgeous. The colors and near-impressionism evoke a lot of emotions, for me. Plus just the scene and composition are lovely.

SotC is just about the best game ever. And then I remember Ico and cry cause I can't decide between the two. But if someone asked me,
"you, dawg, best game evah, GO"
I'd be like, "uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh?!?!"

Then Pat Sajak drives off into the distance and I contemplate my place in the world, alone, crying, in my head thinking... probably should've said FF7?

I'm so excited about this game I could just bleed. Your tegaki captures my feelings, lol. I love how Ico has leant Yorda his little poncho! Such a little gentleman. The end of that game broke my soul, and I do reckon that this game will, too. I'm already traumatised, lol.

I don't think it's too cutesy, myself? I think he series has been about the different manifestations of love and devotion, Ico was innocent first love, SotC was desperate/consuming love, and the newest will probably be unconditional love/friendship. It's pretty apt.

Right when you get all attached to that griffon in The Last Guardian, bad things are going to happen to it... I can smell it!
Also, the way people like you use color is a mystery to me! It's like trying to figure out a secret recipe only by tasting it.

I am so bad at remembering to save, it is silly. Though my laptop crashes so often and without warning, sometimes while saving so I guess the thing to do would be abandon ship (computer?) altogether. What is this about captains going down with the ship it is nonsense I'm more of a swabbie anyway

Though since the horse I drew got lost in the technology snaffu I guess the connection is a lot weaker than I wanted. Ah, no big. Horses are jerks, anyway.

It's kind of great that every piece of information they release builds on the previous. When they first announced it, it was only the picture of the chain in the well, then there was BIRDOGGIE and the extended trailer with even MORE BIRDOGGIE.
I like the gradual progression a lot and it makes me wheezy is what I'm trying to say.
I hope they come up with a viral campaign to match the genius of SoC's giantology hoax. That was insane!

Well, *SPOILERZ PEOPLE* Everyone did get to be together at the end of SotC (I got pretty choked up when Agro fell though, STUPID HORSE, ITS NOT LIKE I CONNECTED WITH YOU OR ANYTHING ;_
But Ico also got a lightsaber in that one. So who's to say? That being said, Ueda is going to put us through some heart wrenching set pieces with that lovable creature.
But seriously, ponchos are totally last gen, its all about flowing togas now.

Hell YES ICO. Urgh I have yet to play SoC but I hope I can soon, the first game holds such a near and dear place in my heart. I love the texture to this though, and how earthy Yorda looks, rather than ethereal, instead of ghostly and not quiet there.

SoC's gameplay is such a combination of zen and frustration for me. Kind of like life?
The amount of stuff you can divine about the people's culture of that world from the slimmest hints is pretty cool, though. They obviously thought everything out thoroughly, the game is so sparing with details IT IS AT ONCE GREAT and CRAZY. I am in love with the almost minimalist, but extremely effective approach to the story, too.
I think Yorda's canonically supposed to be dead, though. UM.

Seriously! I think of all the games I've ever played, ICO was the one I've replayed the most. Even if you just finished it, it's so soothing but detailed, you can replay it again and again.
IDK! That extra scene at the end is either Ico is dead as well or she's alive? /: Hard to tell with such an open-to-interpretation game like that.
