I still say Black Mage needs to be a season premier (or season finale) villain. He could be hitting on Fluttershy with the crudest pickup lines the network would allow.
Thief could work too, as a unicorn supremacist out to seize power (and with it, money, women, and the ability to get away with murder) by stealing Celestia and Luna's magic. And while he'd prefer that Twilight join him (quoth the Green Goblin, "There are eight million people in this city. And those teeming masses exist for the sole purpose of lifting the few exceptional people onto their shoulders. You, me? We're exceptional."), if she gets in his way... more magic for him.

Which do you think would work better as a villain? On the one hand, contempt for the "lower" races/classes is a more despicable quality in a villain than all-consuming murderous hatred, and the fact Thief!pony doesn't want to kill absolutely everyone (or kill almost everyone and enslave the survivors) would make the appearance of a villain like him in the show less unlikely. On the other hand, Black Mage!pony would allow for a Fighter!pony. Hmm...
Idea: the reason BM!pony is so attracted to Fluttershy is because he's convinced that her shyness is a paper-thin layer of passive-aggression barely concealing a seething ball of spite and fury; in other words, a mare after his own black shriveled thing that might have been a heart at one point in time.
Well, that and her CHOICE ASS.

Theif sounds more realistic. Imagining BM's Hadoken in pony form is just too amusing. Accidental heroism by BM because Theif pissed him off? Fighter would probably be as bound to physics as Pinkie Pie.

This assumes Thief and BM are mutually exclusive. Though Fighter is prolly following BM around because he saved his life entirely on accident.

I have no idea how things would work, but it's a hilarious concept to put those four in Equestria. You sound like you have a real good idea how things could play out in a plot. All I can think of are caption-esque instances, and they amuse me so!
