I was thinking about the level cap of the weapons. Maybe instead of capping at Level 5 they cap at something like Ultimate where the weapon requires something like a ultra rare item that you get for defeating the final boss or an optional enemy like an Ultimate Metal and restarting at the beginning of the game, you can only get one per run and this encourages players to continously go through the game to get the Ultimate Metal and upgrade the weapon. The Ultimate Level could either change the weapons design and buff the crap out of the weapon but also increase it's problems. Watch think? Too complicated?

I bet you're going to make the cutest enemy in the game the one we'll have to use in the forge the most, aren't you?

I'm excited to see what the equip effects will be once the game is launched like the pink sword for example.
I love watching the progress of a game. ^^

So, there won't be any equipment having to need more than 1 kind of foe?

Also, quick unrelated question, is EBF5 going to be made available for platforms other than flash and Windows? I have a Mac and I wish there were more fun games I could play...but I also know that it's not that simple to port stuff over. Also, if you release a Flash version, like with the other EBF games, will it be on Kongregate, as per usual?

In the Steam version even if Mac isn't officially supported, you'll have the option to run it as a Flash game instead of .exe file, so you should be able to run it on just about anything. (though the Steam features won't work)
But there's still some time til release so we'll see how that goes. There should be a Kongregate version too, yeah.

Oh, and does the same hold true for EBF4? I remember seeing it available for Windows, but how would it work for a flash game version?

Nah it doesn't work there. The .swf file is not a seperate file. Might change this in future.

Sweet! I used to just do Kongregate, but then...well, all my progress just randomly disappeared in most of the games for no good reason, so...yeah...
On the plus side, I can honestly say that EBF3 and EBF4 are still fun to replay after all this time. So, points for that.

Oooh. Looking good! I actually kind of have a mixed relationship with upgrade systems, to be honest. If done well, they're nice. If you're always looking for the same item over and over again, however,...it gets very grinding very quickly. At least with a wider variety of materials, including capturing specific monsters, it shouldn't feel like a complete grind-fest.

Is the map going to be bigger than the EBF 4 map?

Kinda does feel like there's a bigger variety in weapons and armor in this from EBF4 here

This is a good way to make a "smaller" equipment inventory feel more expansive. You get attached to the items, rather than just swap 'em out, and instead of the Weakness Exploit Switch form EBF4 (which I still like), you actually might have some consequences to that exchange beyond some ATK variation and elemental change.
If there was a visual differentiation between levels, that'd be the bee's knees, but of course that shouldn't even be considered during the actual development, and only be an afterthought while prepping the actual publishing.

The interface looks good, but Matt and Lance without hats look somewhat... wrong. Dunno.
Aside from that, will we be able to capture a creature multiple times without using them up inbetween, i.e. will we be able to have multiple instances of the same creature captured?
Also, is that a SUN you're working into boss-level Heaven's Gate? Sweet mother of overkill.

Well, if a random stranger on the internet says so, it must be true :P

I think the enemy name was an Angel Mirror, in fact.
(Also I'm the one who suggested that summons be used in equipment upgrades... specifically, if the equipment would summon something from time to time, it would require that summon.)
