Description
It's been a good while since I've posted anything Silmarillion related. I have never found the time, always busy with commissions (or life) but I've stored the sketch of this painting since 2020! It lay dormant in my procreate app, waiting for me to finish it, and I thought: why not now?

It depicts two of my favourite characters: Maedhros and Fingon, whose friendship is simply beautiful and, frankly, something to strive towards. They shared an incredible bond and survived several tragic events. After all, Fingon had been the one freeing Maedhros from his cruel fate at Thangorodrim.
Fingon's end is one of the most hauntingly tragic ones to me. He deserved so much better.
Alas, he was brutally slain in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, his helmet splintered by Gothmog's black axe and his body trampled into the ground.
I imagined Maedhros scouring the battlefield for his fallen friend and cousin, finding him cruelly beaten by the Balrogs of Morgoth.

Suffer with me then in reliving the Battle of Unnumbered Tears and grieving for all its victims.
