Description My favorite water starter is Totodile from Gen 2 xD He's so cool!

I had fun doing this, and I was playing around with the background. He's suppose to be on an Island like thing surrounded by water xD I'm terrible with doing backgrounds, so with this, I'm pretty surprised how it turned out. (Need lot more practice to make it actually look neat, but still lol.)

Pokemon Themed Challenge Folder:

I'm doing this 30 Day Challenge thing, well, it's a little more than 30 days, but it's like one of those. But this challenge theme is Pokemon, for numerous reasons; 1) I love Pokemon, 2) It'll help me draw animals better.

So I'm doing these challenges out of order, whatever one I want to draw, or feel like it. But I'm going to try and create one each day, that's the goal anyways.

Challenge I created if you would like to challenge yourself :3

Good luck with your challenge, I'm trying to draw them all as well, but I keep getting sidetracked with Pokemon contests! But this is pretty good, and like you, I'm not so great at backgrounds either. I tend to just use the auto fill or autogradient for the background.

Thank you so much! And I know what you mean! I hope I can keep it up and balance time after I get up or after I get home from work xD At least you're still doint Pokemon-like things so that should kind of count towards the goal? XD

Aweee so sweet <3

I'm definitely going to practice and watch tutorials and read and do tons of research on making backgrounds so I can improve on them :3

Yea, ive been watching some tutorials too, but even with my traditional art, I've never been that good at backgrounds, foreground, midground, etc. >.<

I never given drawings much background at all, unless I was painting or something. But with digital art, I feel like they need to be transparent or have at least something for a background hahaaa xD But backgrounds overall, I think, are difficult to create without experience in environments or without practice, so for now, all you can do is practice and learn until you feel mastered at the art x3

Definitely, practice, practice, practice! I feel that not enough time has ever been taken in any of my art classes (and I've had quite a few) to develop a background. They've generally been all about the subject and haven't paid any attention to the different grounds. My last art class just broke the surface at placing figures, but sadly it was the last I've taken and I was never good at it. >.< But hopefully the Poke's will help with that. I feel more confident doing a silly anime background than a real life one.

Same! Minus the art classes thing. My art teachers tried and pushed on a background, or multiple grounds to create depth and perspective and such. But definitely simple backgrounds that are simple or silly are fun, and doing something realistic would take lots of patience and practice xD

I know, somehow I have the confidence to draw silly pokemon grounds, but not real ones. Ahh well, time to practice more i suppose.

Yeah I feel ya love. But it's good to step out of the comfort zone and branch out.
