I was just thinking we've seen quite a bit of the Umino family in the manga (well, quite a bit for a side character), I just wanted draw them as a happy family.I'd say Iruka definitely takes after his mother in looks. (Though my art may not reflect it that well. The manga and anime show it better.) Personality wise, Iruka inherited his father's strictness, and his mother's gentleness, I think.
It broke my heart to hear Iruka's father say his name in his dying breath. orz (In the anime)
Ah, I want to see more stuff with the Umino family!

I had to wonder whether or not Iruka's mother was an ANBU....when I saw this artwork and seen it was done by you I was ecstatic! I love your depictions of Iruka, especially his family, although I don't like his dad's moustache when I saw it in the anime

papa ikkaku's a narwhal/e, and mama kohari's a... a.. a something-porpoise, sorry memoryfail, native to south-american'ish waters. (try looking up kohari-iruka; if you can handle kanji input the characters for kohari are 'small/little' and 'needle'
