A more blatantly obviously cheesecake-inspired mermaid. Original sketch was done sometime last year and I found the photo of the page floating on my laptop, so I figured I should colour it.Much love and thanks to for helping me out with this 'un
Background texture is from CG Textures and the lace I made in PS (you can tell from how crappy it is;;;; *SIGH* )
Drawn by pencil on paper, photographed then coloured in PS CS4 with an intuos3.

This looks so perfect, it's so hard to believe it was photographed instead of scanned! Every single detail on this is spot-on, and I love her melting hair and the sugar fins! Please allow me just one advise, her left rachial-elbow area slightly bothers me
It seems to be darker than that part's brightness, or, it might be a problem of direction of light.
I think that mermaid is exposed to the light from the light in pretty high position(over my head).
But left arm and arm's shadow and other fin's shadow talk to me that light is left side of me.
I think that is why I have inhibition.
I don't know whether I deliver my opinion right or not
That because short of my english; But I hope that the right meaning will be delivered
It might be my useless worries; If you are bothered, forgive me
I just want to see something more great in your paintings ^^ (it's just my greed)
Anyway, it is one of best images in I have seen in recent years!
Probably, I cannot draw like this;

I think I understand what you mean - I completely forgot about the shadow from her left arm;;;; The light positioning is meant to be a bit above her eye-level, but yeah, I can see what the issue is with the shadow from her arm and the fin - I'll fix that up in a few weeks, I can't bring myself to look at it in photoshop after that much work
