Description Ages ago, in a media center of a store (around that time you could scan them and see a trailer for the movie, it was kind of cool.  Starship Troopers caught my attention and appealed to the sci-fi adventure junkie in me.  Then, luck would have it, I recorded it on TV some years later.  Around that time, incredibly violent movies were cut to omit much of the gruesome scenes in various Rated R films.  Why that was done still eludes me and it's not worth going into.

My brother was interested in another variant of ST, but it was a CGI cartoon called Roughnecks.  I purchased the first "Pluto Campaign" for his birthday.  I watched it with him and I will say...it was quite an experience.  Not like anything in this era.  The characters, the action, the drama, the emotion and the humor (yes it had humor, tasteful too).  I believe I understood soldier mentality from Razak.  And the troopers and war were handled more thoroughly than in the film.  And I will admit without fear, RSSTC was BETTER than the movie and then lesser known sequels that followed.

IF there are any fans here, we all know they had a finale planned but unfortunately production problems and never finished, ending the series on a cliffhanger (the worst way to end a series, and don't we know it).

Yes, Roughnecks is by all definition "dated" but it was surprisingly done at the time and the show itself was an interesting experience.  It touched many subjects of war, humanity, VERY mature for a kids series.

I'll say what I've thought for at least a decade, the show should've been given a chance to finish.  It was much more human than the film (no offense to fans).  After everything of the Bug War, it needed a conclusion and show the definition of a true soldier.

Sadly, I'm afraid it will never be.  I guess I just have to accept it, bittersweet (heavy on the bitter) as it is.

It maybe forgotten by new generations but this person will say "Roughnecks HO!"

I still have the series in my DVD collection.  And I will NEVER part with it.
