I've seen the original of this picture. I'm sorry to come across mean but i think someone has to say it. You're lying. One big sign is how defensive you get right at the beginning, you knew people would say you're stealing... because u are. You wrote how much time and effort you've put into it BUT all I see is 3 more layers on top: the hair, the wings, and the coloring. You didn't even change the clothes! You could have tried even re-sizing it or shifting the angle. That's just LAZY!!!! This in pure definition is an Art Thief. Using something as a base means you use the skeletal figure of a pose and going from there with your own ideas, that's usually why bases are naked people. This isn't basing, it's tracing, big difference. It's so obvious that it's a trace because all the lines match up, you didn't change anything. (like putting rabbit ears and making the hair pink on the Mona Lisa, it's still going to be the Mona Lisa). I'm so disappointed in you ....*tsktsk* *waving finger*

if you have a problem with copyright go do that to Ion the guy who almost got sued by MapleStory Korea for having created a simulator of the game but the community of BannedStory animators stood up for Ion and MapleStory Global saved his ass. If you really think its that bad go shout at him for copying every single pixel for maplestory which instead brought more smiles to the hearts of kids and adults with music videos, series and short animations...honestly, you have no idea what you are talking about

-_- i used 35 layers and re did the whole image.
Im not stealing, i used the original image as a base and changing the look to the original drawing.
I didn't even steal first off it's the first time i've used it as a base. If you really want me to change it i will if it will get you to quit spamming when i said i used the original as a base.
First off Read before you comment. Because it doesn't look like you had.
Art thief would be if i just post the image as itself without changing. What you are telling me is that people with bases are stealing art because they are drawing over images -.-
Its called revamping. I suggest really reading and asking politely. If you want me to redo it i will and change the size and i will change the clothes...If it'll make you stop.
You have no idea what art thiefs do...i deal with people repost the same picture and stuff without changing it...I did change it and redid it but if its not enough for you to keep quiet and continue calling me art thief when you should be telling that to the people using bases fine by me. To make you happy i will completely revamp the picture again.

I call bullshit. And I read everything you wrote before twice to make sure I was listening to inconsistency.
1. Just because other people take images and steal them doesn't mean it's okay for you to do it. "alot of people do it" does not make it right. Yes, all those people you stole images should take responsibility for their actions.
2. Anything that is posted intentionally be it text or links which is not relevant to the content is spamming. Don't just accuse me of spamming, either u don't know the real meaning, or you're just being dramatic.
3. Apparently you don't know what an Art thief is so now i have to explain that to. An art thief is someone who posts another artist's work and gives PROBABLE CAUSE for others to potentially ASSUME that they were the -original creator- of the artwork.
There's several types on this link:

._. i actually didn't steal any of the images on my page of deviant art. They are all by me, this is the only first real editing i ever tried to do in my life. if you can't understand that than go away.
I do know and its just reposting images that have not been edited <.<
I know what spamming is and if you read closely, you're just flaming at me...

I'm sorry about the typo I should have mentioned that earlier. it's supposed to say "all those people that stole images should take responsibility for their actions". I wasn't accusing you of stealing multiple images.
Also, that's your opinion, others might stick to the definition I gave. I ask, if someone took one of your art images then slightly changed it and claimed it as their own without giving credit or disclaimers to your art, would you be upset?
Also I was reading one of your responses to the user Lithiel and you said "TO MAKE PEOPLE STOP SPAMMING CRAP". I'm the only one saying blunt things so I'm assuming that's me you're generalizing.
Overall, I just wanted you realize that this was a mistake, and hopefully convince you to change it. Fortunately you can change it. Situations like this can become really serious. In example, they can turn into lawsuits, and there are way more angrier people out there than me that won't be as nice.

-.- uhm read my comment above, thank you. a friend from the rp group gave me tips on how to change it. First of all, if you know the name of the artist who did it you could have said so kindly before beginning to go crazy...and yes i was being quite blunt <_< You're pretty much the only one who is angry and others are just saying it kindly that i should add more edit and its what i will be doing...but i wasn't even asking you for that pointer because others have pointed it out before you so you could read other comments before you post. Please leave me alone and stop <_< because its been already said and you have no need to add more fuel

Calocagathia In reply to Kurodaia-Chan [2012-07-16 07:48:43 +0000 UTC]
Let's start ^__^ I'm not "going crazy" as you say I am.
I stated- bluntly, what you were doing. There is nothing crazy about it, it's just the simple truth. You're putting emotions behind my words that are impossible to discern because this is the internet. Sure it's easy for you feel justified if I'm a raving lunatic but if that makes you feel better somehow I'm sorry I can't accommodate you. I'm just blunt.
Secondly, calling me a bully isn't correct either. A bully in universal definition ( which mean google it) is:
1. A person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker.
2. Corned beef.
I'm pretty sure I'm not strong fisting you across the interwebs, I'm just busting you on your excuses. The only form of "strength" I have in relation to the definition is from the fact that what I am saying is true. And truth is perfectly justified.
Beyond that- I have no beef with you- for I am not beef either. ( haha I did a funny- see? not mad)
I'll leave you alone when I SEE your edited product, a link to the original source material in your descriptions, AND finally; removing your bogus claim discrediting my correct discernment by anyone's standards. By which I claim that you're performing a form of art theft ( on purpose or not) >>"So i got a flame comment of someone who had absolutely no idea what an art thief was"<<
Example and proof of my correct identification can be found here [link]
Which is the first and biggest hit on the google search. Please feel free to look it up yourself sometime.
I'm starting to think you're just filtering what you want to read, since I'm trying so hard to make this easy for you to understand by now, but I'll try and hold onto some shred of doubt that this will sink in.
Either that or I guess I'll just have to give up on you and let the rest of the world deal with you when and if you try this again on someone else.
Though- I will warn you, if you do try this again, and do not make good on your promise to edit your picture, do not be surprised if you find that your artwork is reported to the proper authorities. Your piece falls under the 'copy and tracing rule'. No worries though, I know you're going to change it as you said you were. The reason I'm being this adamant above all is because people who try this "method" are very stubborn, usually take forever to stop doing this once they begin and once they think they can get away with it they never stop until the worst happens to them. Even if this is your first time, you must nip this in the bud before it become a bad habit. Blunt or not- mean or not- believe it or not, I'm actually trying to help you.
This will be the last time I try to help you, but I'll be watching you. Though I'm sure you're victim act will demand that you have to get the last word in-
just know that I don't care anymore.
I'll just ignore it and watch your picture closely.
" Happy Drawing!" ^w^

Guess which one i think you are?:
• Type B-I Thief / (aka. "But I Changed the Hair Color, So it Makes It My OC!")
- Uses DeviantART as their Roleplaying database. Whether or not they realize that posting an original piece by someone else is against policy, they FIRMLY believe that if they change the hair color, clothes color, or general overlayed outfit on a fan art or existing screenshot, then it makes the image their own. If the character is meant to look like Sasuke, because he's Sasuke's long-lost-twin-brother-who-was adopted-into-ROOT-but-trained-by-Madara-and-Superman-and-Batman-and-joins-the-Teen-Titans, then it makes the character theirs. After all, how else can people envision their particular version of Sasuke's twin's clone's brother's car dealer's mother's former college roommate's jedi master's youngest star ninja pupil of Konoha? (Unfortunately, these are some of the most common thieves, and the most gray-lined thieves that get away with what they're doing. In general, if they choose to draw over a screenshot or someone who is not on DA, they get away with it more often than if they draw over an existing DeviantART user's artwork. This, makes them some of the most malignant thieves on DA. They're a kind of malignant tumor thief that continues to grow, and if everyone on DA did this, it'd be the end of art as we know it.)
4.I'm not going to keep quiet, I'm happy shouting to all of Deviant art if that's what it takes to notice that picture is stolen.
5. I hope you enjoyed this educational time from me and stopped being ignorant~

Just to clarify, here's why I think people may still say you traced it still. [link]
Everything matched up.
but like I said, it's very fixable.
Another good thing is try to change the angle and position of the pose. flip it around or up side down. ^w^ You may even try to change the angle of the camera too. by that I mean- we're observing the pose from this slightly above/front angle right? How about you try and take the angle further and tilt it back so we see more from a leveled point of view, ( sorta like w'ere staring at them from the end of the bed >w> assuming in thats what they're one *giggle*) or go directly above their heads so it feels like we're staring straight down from the ceiling. OwO
I think you can really make this scene special, so keep at it. Finding inspiration in art or learning from others is part of the craft.

;~; okay.... OMG YOUR SO MUCH NICER THAN THE COMMENT OF THAT PERSON SPEWING SHIZ... I KNOW ITS A BASE BUT I WILL COMPLETELY EDIT IT TO MAKE PEOPLE STOP SPAMMING CRAP AND EDIT THE DESCRIPTION ;~;
But thank you still...your comment was a bit more nicer than the last one by a deviant calling me art thief -_- though the person has no idea what one is....and doesn't think using the naked bases is art thief though how they word it said its....GAAAH
but thank you i will edit it today while im downloading maplestory... ;~;
I will edit it more so i get enough stuff and i'll change the angle of the image...(i like working with stuff like that for BannedStory Images)

Hey I was just wondering if you thought that she traced it from another person? or like, from her own work kind? Because it's her own work, you can see her little signature thing "Kurodaia-Chan.deviantart.com" on the bottom(in white, you don't the signature sticking out, right?)And also, it's her Oc,(I can tell by the dragon scales, lol) but what's to say that people don't draw other peoples Oc's?^^

Look at the link and see for yourself. I took her picture and the original and overlapped them. the signature you see is from her picture, but the original doesn't have a signature.
Here's the original.

I liked that fan art a lot too, I wanted to something similar. The pose is so intimate and adorable.
Though I have to say this because you may still get flak for it-
if you're using it as a base, you need to alter it more.
The reason I say this is people may still accuse you of tracing because when you overlay them as the lines still match up too much.
This is easy to fix though- you can add more creases or change their flow, direction of the lighting, change the position of the hands just a little more in either direction- add extra lace, make the dress longer, or more layers to it- the list can go on. the point is to not allow them to be completely in sync. I sue models for my work now and BOY does it make a HUGE difference, but even then I try to alter the portions or change the positions of some of the parts to make it mine.
