Description Needless to say, Around the World in 80 Days (Hachijunichikan Sekai Isshuu) was one of my childhood favourite series.

Background info for those who don't know the original novel by Jules Verne and / or the anime adaptation made in the late 80's: Phileas Fogg is a wealthy English aristocrat who accepts a bet from the other elite of London that he can travel around the world in 80 days. Along him, he takes his male servant and a former circus performer, Passepartout (anime version also includes Tiko who is Passepartout's friend and a fellow circus member).

Fogg and crew meet Princess Romy on their stop at India. She's a young and beatiful girl who was forced to marry a powerful maharaja who soon after passes away. In the indian custom, Romy is to be sacrified in a pyre alongside her husband's remains. Fortunately Fogg interferes the seremony and with the aid of his company, saves Princess Romy.

The dress Romy is wearing in my picture is actually the same one she was going to be torched in. I, however, loved it.

I didn't have any spesific story in mind when I drew this, but I think that this could well be from around the time she married the maharaja. She's standing on the balcony hoping that there's got to be something more out there for her.

Very good work.

But I could have sworn when I saw that episode, it was (mostly) Fogg's valet Rigadon, who saved him.
