Description I know it's a huge tl;dr, so if you're only interested in knowing what's happening in the picture, please skip over to the paragraphs that are underlined!

Also, please keep in mind it's written more from Cor's pov so things such as Yolanda's thoughts and feelings on the battle are unknown. (cuz', you know, Cor can't get into her head n' all)

---

"I'd hate to ruin that pretty little face, you know?"

The stadium was filled with the roar of the crowd- a deafening sound as hundreds of shouts merged into one monster of a sound. People cheered through one way or another- noisemakers, sheer voice, stomping, clapping- you name it, the crowd was going crazy. A couple of cameras were set at the edges of the arena, directly streaming their images onto large flat screens at either side of the stadium for a clearer image of the competitors- at the center of it all, two women standing on a large slab of concrete.

"Tell you what- I'll give you a fair chance. If you throw in the towel, I won't have to hurt you. Otherwise, don't expect me to go easy just because you're eye-candy." That was the Roserade speaking again, a smirk wide on her face. Her opponent simly replied with an equally sly smile and a chuckle. "No need to fret over me, cherie." There was a glint on the Haunter's eyes, and she could recognize it very well- a promise of danger. Her smirk grew.

The announcer's voice rang loud and clear, even in between the massive shouts of the stadium. An introduction to the battle, she thought, eyes spanning to the cheering people. Cordelia wasn't paying much of any attention to the man at this point. He spoke of their names and species, to which she could only impatiently rolls her eyes- was he dragging this one purposely? Get this going already--

"START!"

--ohwellokthen. Snapping back into reality and focus, the woman readied her fighting stance... perhaps a little too late. Cursing under her breath, her eyes locked back onto the woman while mentaly berating herself for the stupid mistake--there was a giant shadowy hand over her. Well shiiiii--

Quickly, she moved out of the way, rolling to the side while narrowly missing the shadow from swallowing her. The illusion of a hand, caused by the ghost woman, slammed against the cement. Focus Cordelia, focus-- again, a little just too late. Although she had successfully avoided contact with the ghost hand, she didn't take into account that the Haunter might just have taken that opportunity to get closer- which she did- and prepare a Sucker Punch- which she did- to hook her on the side of the jaw- which, again, she did. Oof!

Now knocked back a couple feet more, she ignored the stinging on her cheek from the punch, immediately standing back up. No way was she going to lose this so quickly, and much less from simply not having had paid attention. Her fists clenched and eyes narrowed- without so much a flinch, barbs tore open the skin from atop her knuckles and slid out menacingly. "Come get it." Well it seems at least she was still as confident as ever.

But, the ghost thought otherwise. Cor guessed she wasn't stupid enough to just up and face her now that she was ready to strike back. Instead, the crowd around them began to melt away. Everything did, actually. From Yolanda, shadows grew- dark abysses coating the sky and everything in sight. She frowned- what the hell was this? The shadow grew and grew... and grew towards /her/. Shitshitshit! Hands reached for her from the black, goopy and dripping with black ooze, clawing their way closer towards her, but she kept her stance even as a shiver ran up her spine. A face was behind the ghost... it was as if the shadow itself was mocking her with is big, gnarled, twisted, dripping grin. Fuck no.

The rose snarled. She wasn't going to let this stupid shit get to her- it had to be Yolanda's doing. Ghosts, ugh. Blinking and shaking her head, the woman re-tightened her fists at her side, then took off without so much as a warning towards her opponent at top speed. Before the purple woman even had time to react, she was already there, fist drawn back aaaand-- WHAM, Poison Jab, right in the kisser. Yolanda was sent flying back from the force and surprise of the attack into the sand pit, successfully snapping off the Night Shade as the world around them returned, the shadow swallowed by the ground.

This was her chance. Not planning to give the other woman a break, Cordelia sped again toward her prey, closing in with a fist drawn back a second time. Too bad for her, Yolanda spotted her and, with a difference of a mere second, her fist connected with the sand as the ghost flew out of range. "Tch!" Turning up to see where she had went, she spotted the Haunter floating just above the grass, about two arm's length of a distance away. " 'aving some problems, cherie?" She mocked, the sweet ring of her laugh filling the air along with sounds from the crowd. "Not for long."

Even before she had finished speaking, the Roserade pushed off a third time- not wanting to give the other woman so much as a chance or oppening to fight back. Withing seconds, the gap between them closed and, before Yolanda could rise farther into the air, Cordelia lept with hands stretched out. A victorious tackle, both sent crashing to the ground with the french woman underneath her. Fast. Quick. Don't give her an opening. Not a moment's hesitation was taken when the Roserade's hand was drawn back, but instead of a fist it was extended. The veins behind her hand portruded grotesquely. "This might hurt, love"

Yolanda tried to push the woman off her. It wasn't working. So fine then, if she couldn't /get/ her off, she would /force/ her off. A blue glow surrounded the Roserade as the ghost's eyes narrowed dangerously. "I'm more worried aboout you than me." She replied with a grin, and suddenly Cordelia couldn't move. Shit. Shit. Motherfu-- Yolanda's Psychic was successful, and it was hard for the Roserade to breathe... but still, she tried to fight against the invisible force in a struggle of sheer will. Slowly and with a lot of trouble, her hand approached the Haunter's face. Every inch became harder and harder to move-- until, finally, the hand made contact with the ghost's face and Giga Drained her. Cordelia could feel a small surge of energy at the attack-- but her small victory was met with an understandably unexpected Sucker Punch to the gut. That definitely got her off.

Taking the opportunity now that Cor was down, Yolanda floated back up and tried to get some distance between the two, fully aware of her close-hand weakness. Cordelia would have none of it. Following after the fleeing ghost, a black sludge began to drip from between the gap of her mouth, a smirk sliding back into her face. It considerably slowed her down, yes, but it wouldn't matter soon enough. The Haunter made a wide gap between the two, turning to face the rose with red, glowing eyes, searching for Cordelia's own. The Hypnosis, however, would fail as- when she had been turning, the Roserade had already spit out a black ball on her hand. And thrown it. At. Her. Yolanda was met with an exploding black goop rather than a sleeping Roserade as the Sludge Bomb made contact with her, sending her into the lake.

But she wasn't down. And Cordelia knew it. Although still trying to breathe normally from the regurgitated, thick substance, she ran after her prey and dove into the lake without a second to waste. Ah. There she was. Lucky her, Yolanda had been getting the sludge off her inside the water while Cordelia had ran after her- taking the chance, she grabbed the ghost by the neck... and maybe a little too hard. The Haunter's eyes began to glow red again, but for the second time around, her Hypnosis would fail as Cordelia took one hand to cover her face, the other still being used to strangle her, whilist both had veins portruding in a nasty manner and draning energy from her via another Giga Drain.

Both were tired by now, the attacks having had taken a toll on their bodies, but neither refusing to give up. So when Cordelia gained the upper hand underwater, Yolanda decided have none of it. Using yet another Sucker Punch to get her off, however wildly aimed, she managed to clock the Roserade a second time on the same side of the jaw as she had before. This caused Cordelia to let go of the ghost, who swam back up the surface. No. No. She wasn't going to let this end so easily. She was so close to winning, she could taste the victory, and no way was she letting it slip away.

Swimming back up after the Haunter, black sludge dripped from her mouth again, dissolving into the water, and she spat out a small marble onto her hand. This was her chance. She was going to wind. Breaking the surface of the water with a gasp of much-needed air, she tried to squint her eyes and see where the ghost was-- over there! She was pulling herself out of the water, back clear and open and asking for a shot. A shot that she could take. Not wanting to let the perfect opportunity slide-by, Cordelia drew the hand with the marble back, one eye closed to take aim. She took a breath in, and everything seemed to slow down. This was her last chance.

And just as the moment came, it went- her arm was sent forward, the marble thrown from between her fingers, and the crowd held their breath in anticipation. Poor Yolanda hadn't seen it coming. The marble hit her square in the back of the head- and whether it was the Sludge Bomb itself, the small explosion, or because of where if had hit, the ghost went limp against the grass.

And she had won.

A wide, excited grin took over Cordelia's face as a rush of victory swelled her pride. The crowd was sent in a roar of shouts- some in anger, some in glee, and some just too caught up in the moment to care for who had won. It was a deafening sound, and the Roserade remembered. She remembered again how good it felt to fight.

But even more so, how good it felt to win.

OH MAH FUUUUH~

This is so good! So, so good! Cordelia and Yolanda are just perfect fighting one another! I loooove them~

Great mood and effects here, Kuromitu! Great perspective and poses. These girls are both just total bad asses! I love the way you rendered both of their attacks, and I like how the white of the creepy ghost face behind Yolanda balances the white of Cordelia's hair in the foreground.

A tonne of movement and energy in this piece. Good luck, lady~
