Been working on this a tiny bit at a time since september. Took a long time to paint.Even before last august I had been sort of thinking about changing my character, and with everything that's happened, I'm just not the same person any more.
Kuro is eight years old. I designed her when I was 13, and very little has changed about her since the first couple years.
In all likelihood the new character will probably end up being more a redesign than a huge change, but I don't know yet. Her canon will probably not carry over to the new character, not exactly.
But this picture is a farewell to Kuro, as she is, as she was.

This is sad to see... but it seems a lot has been changing these past two years. Is it bad that it isn't really a surprise to me to see something like this? I look forward to see what comes next.

I stared at this for a while, it's so interesting and beautiful. I've never seen something "coming undone" like you've done Kuro here, and the layout and expression on her face are very powerful. Amazing farewell

this is incredibly gorgeous. It shows how a character can be so powerful and yet so frail. I will miss Kuro, however I understand the need to change. A few years ago I changed my character who was the representation of myself as well. Characters must evolve as humans do. Still wishing you the best Kuro. I've been missing you on DA lately and hope good things will occur in your life. Love you forever. <3

Didn't intend to split my comments on this between sites, but I also wanted to say just how inspiring this is. I love all the things going on in this, on so many levels. It's extremely expressive and personal and emotional and a lot of it comes from all the stuff happening in the picture, not just the character or their expression.

about how I've always loved Kuro's character how much she has evolved
but rather than telling you to hold back I just wanted to ask you one thing,
Can I keep her tail pleeeeeze its so floofy and would make a great duster.....hmm or a kanji brush

This is extremely beautiful, with the subdued tones and shading. The symbolism is fantastic, and just so... Meaningful. It really sets the tone. The amount of work you put into this is very obvious, well done.
