I'm actually going to be running a Gnome Artificer in a campaign soon. Any tips for someone that's only played Fighters and Rangers?

Hmm... that's a little tricky just because I've only played him at levels 1 and 2.
I guess there are two things I've noticed with artificers. No matter what archetype you pick, there is basically no reason to use regular weapons to attack. As a gunsmith, that gun just does more damage, and as an alchemist you have more options with your alchemical concoctions both for offence and defence. (As an alchemist, you'll want to remember that the throwable concoctions only go 30 ft, so you'll have to stay relatively close to the fight.)
The other is that, as someone who went from being a fighter to an artificer, they are way more squishy than I'm comfortable with. No, not as much as a wizard or sorcerer, but you'll still be in a fair bit of danger. Keep that in mind.
Also, if you can, use as much downtime as possible to use your tools. Craft things.
Oh, also artificers are high key support. Support your allies.

Yeah, the Alchemist's limited range is something I'm going to try and rectify by either switching some stats for a higher CON, or using downtime to try and turn my L. Crossbow into like a catapult. (Kinda like the Grenade Crossbow from Battlefield 1)
