Description
My name is Fatima. I work for the city as a criminal prosecutor. Lately, I had been focused on bringing down the mysterious Foot Clan.
I'm working late in my private office on different reports about the evil deeds of the Foot Clan. I hate them and I want to prosecute them all to make our city a better place.
I was surprised when a man entered my office, asking if I was Fatima. He was tall and handsome with curly brown hair and a cute smile. He was dressed in a nice suit and trench coat. I noticed he was wearing a purple tie. Unusual, but a nice color.
He introduces himself as Stephen Piral and that he needed my help with a serious situation. His story sounds strange but my willingness to help people in distress gets the better of me. I get up from my table and take his hand.
He is telling me his story at length and I am listening. The sound of his voice is nice…comforting…soothing. I jerk myself awake suddenly. I have already worked a long day and I am tired. Did I almost fall asleep in front of Stephen? He is still talking, and did not seem to notice. I scoot my butt in the seat, adjusting my posture to sit up more straight.
Stephen continues to tell me the story of why he needs my help. I notice him fiddling with his watch, probably a nervous habit. The watch moves and it catches the light from the lamp behind my head, shining briefly in my eyes. He is moving the watch back and forth with a quick flick of the wrist and each time it makes me blink. The rhythm of his wrist movements is slowing down and my blinks are slowing down with them. Each time I blink my eyelids feel heavier and heavier.
Stephen is still talking in that soothing voice of his. He is handsome and I find myself smiling and feeling sleepy in his presence. “Down” he keeps saying. He seems to keep slipping the word down into almost every sentence and I didn’t notice it until now. Down. Yes. Down.
His voice.
His watch.
Down.
The light.
Flash.
Down.
So tired.
So sleepy.
Down.
Down.
My eyes flutter closed and my head hangs down.
I am hypnotized.
I await Stephen’s next orders.
