First time actually using the 3D feature in Photoshop - before I would often do the open/close thing you tend to do when you think it would be so cool to learn something but... it's so much work to do it you find another way of getting to your endgame faster

I have been thinking a lot lately about the additional time I gain from this whole lockdown situation (I work from home now, so no long commute - but to be fair I tend to sleep more and work longer hours, so often it compensates) and this need of everyone to "stay productive" and "use your time to *insert what you've always wanted to do/learn here*". While I do think this can be a chance to do just that (which is why I tried my hand at this 3D thing and now I have sooooo many ideas of what I could do with it), I also think the whole situation could be a good opportunity to stop. Stop trying to outdo the next person, stop trying to be someone you might not feel comfortable being, stop berating yourself for all the things you think you really should be doing but end up not doing. Stop and evaluate what is really important, what you need to be happy. And maybe you can form a plan how to get to this happy place when this whole shit is over...

[Note: I am fully aware of a few things here, first and foremost that I am very lucky to have a job I still work in every day and get paid for 100%. I am lucky that my boyfriend also is fully employed. Even if we weren't, living in Germany we would be falling into a social net that would allow us to sit this out without worrying about the future all that much. If either of us catches that virus, the health care system here seems stable enough to not worry - and we are insured too. I know I am also super lucky to be in touch with my colleagues throughout the week, I keep busy through work. We are not confined to our homes, we are allowed to go out for walks as log as we keep the distance. And I can rant about work to my boyfriend if I need to... I know that this is not the case for everyone, that most of you reading this are probably under severe stress due to this shitty situation. And I am not suggesting to try and forget about all of that. What I am trying to say is, please take a breath. Figure out what you need to do in order to get help if you need it (unemployment benefits for example or help from a hotline because you need someone to talk to), don't do anything rash. And don't try to pretend that by "learning a new skill" all of this will magically solve itself. Unfortunately it won't. But beating yourself up about needing to learn sth new so you can later put in your CV "time not wasted" in and of itself is not going to solve it either. ...I think.]

Tutorial Time?
Btw, I'm thinking about doing a bit of a different tutorial on this one. Something like "How do you go about learning something new" with this 3D thing as an example. I captured all the 10 plus hours it took me to finalize this (not counting searching for stock and checking out tutorials on youtube & the Photoshop help file) and I am realizing my process is somewhat... chaotic. So I've been doing a lot of staring at a blank page regarding this tutorial so far and cannot promise you if/when it will see the light of day. But of course I'd be interested to hear if you'd be interested and/or what your learning process is like.Mine seems very specific to how y mind works, so I'm not so sure I can manage to explain it properly without some external ideas / descriptions...
