Fairplay...

a new football playing technique

Here In germany (especially here in munich) the football delirium overlabs at the moment because of the WM 2006. Unfortunatly I couldΒ΄nt resist to think about this theme and so this picture happen. Here is the idea:

ItΒ΄s a concept for a Remote Controlable Ball. It works with 3 "dynamic unbalance" modules (red). Every single module is driven by a single electro engine. These are speed controlable. (yellow cable) The core of this hole system is the "gyro stabilizer" sensor. (the transclucent cylinder in the middle) With the help of a metal sphere in the middle of this element and a lot of sensors on the outside (the black dots) this module can realize within split seconds how the ball is positioned at the moment. With this information, the electronic is able to control the influence of every single unbalance unit of the ball, so that it can be controlled by the remote control. This could be really really interesting games I think...

Tools used: 3D Studio Max; Rhino; Mental Ray; Photoshop

a zoomable highres Version of this picture can be found on:

One kick, Sensitive processor and even more sensitive radio reciever, Crack! Lol nice idea and picture though, Maybe if you put the weight things and all the other moving parts in like a steal casing and the processor too. Fill the ball with rubber for protection(add little pockets of air to make the ball soft or bouncy). The antenna for remote control can be a web of soft memory metal in the gaps of the balls exterior so you get a good connection. Would be a bitch to change the AA batteries inside though D:... Just an idea.

Looks great. A few concerns though:

//1. Nothing controls the hydraulics, they're just there.
//2. As a skill ball, it's great, but at regulation size 5, I don't think the parts would be proportional, especially the microchip.
//3. The ball would need to be pumped up so it could even be used to play. There's no bladder.
//4. One well-struck shot and you could kiss that thing, "good bye."

As far as a work of art, it's really good. Just doesn't have a logical real-world application. Have considered something similar to this in a way: a passive RFID chip inside the ball so you can tell when it goes across the line for a throw in, corner kick, or even a goal with the detection devices below the chalk line and in the goal posts.

Can CPU compute aerodynamic formulations in a split second? Velocity, strike power etc. But I think it must work with sun light and recharcable battery.
