and Morty should be a dumb kid, but he's actually becoming quite a wise a mature guy... a bit like in South Park the kids (with all their flaws) are actually the real adult and reasonable guys in the town, Morty is probably the most adult person in his family, even more than Rick who clearly isn't, but is able to conceal it epically with his humongous genius xD

He has worked really hard to get to where he is. know cuz i followed him way back, and have improved tremendously. the work speed just goes to show how much he leveled up. and he became popular because of his hardwork and skills. and he always produce great stuff if its only in sketches. and that's how popularity works. Popular people get many likes on ig or fb just buy taking a selfie without any special thing on it like wtf. (oh and at least, he's not some artist that became popular or something, and then produce a blank canvass with scratches on em, some few random paints that doesnt make sense and sells for a billion dollars- now that's stupidity.)

It's a mix of calling to a fanbase and of the artist being so well known in many respects. That and the skill of being able to puke out quality in under 10 minutes due to proliferation. The more you draw the faster you get.

I dont see what the problem is then o.o The only other explanation I could give at this point is that it's also not a nsfw piece either. Why does that matter? Well, people like different things, and often people may like one thing more than the other. I would also add that just because it's not in extensive detail like his usual works or other arts that it doesn't mean it lacks the ability to become a popular piece~
And ofc like I said, it's Rick and Morty. Plenty of people out there get popular by doing art or projects of already existing characters.
