that is the seqeual, animals according to sparklekids. and that one will also count as "they assume the zoolologial world ends at________________. And list lion, wolf, dog, cat, horse and few other animals.

one day i saw a Sparkle serval... and it didn't look like a cat. I dont think they can draw anything outside of a dog. even if they do call it "cat"

Amazingly it's mostly pointed eared canines. I thought sparkle 'dog' mean't all breeds? Pointed, floppy eared, etc. Also not all canines have wolf type snouts and heads. Different muzzles sizes and heads as well. Wolves have swept everyone into denial..

I don't see a lot of floppy ear Sparkle dogs. people forget more than Spitz and German Shepard Dog exist.

there maybe a poodle now and then, or something labeled a Pekineses, but it will have erect teddybear ears.

uiuku67 In reply to Kuwaizair [2010-08-26 22:22:20 +0000 UTC]

yes, mainly dogs that 'resemble wolves'. kinda sad, why not all breeds?
And yes every now and then a poodle or something.

i know, sad thing is its one of the most popular thing I did.

I was so close to not altering any of them, just keeping them pure.

I don't need a husky/malamute because "generic shape" covers that, and "dog' to some denotes labs and collies. this dog is a classic mongrel

Funny how that works, isn't it? On my normal account my most favorited deviation is something I put very little time into and frankly can't stand to look at anymore...

i made sparkle-hate that is good sparkle-hate

(because its hateful hinder creativity by telling someone that blue, grey, black, hotpink, dark green, pumpkin orange, neon yellow, rainbow, silver, brown, lavender, royal purple, checkarbord don't look good on one dog-thing

cool.

I think one good way to study basic shape might be to study the taxidermy forms. there they 'animals' are plastic and furless.
mostly tailes and earless.

but at least you can get the subtle body shape

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

momopocky In reply to Kuwaizair [2009-11-06 00:54:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.
I draw canines, and though probably not 100% correct on their anatomy, I know that those in the canine family have different shapes.

(Like people who draw wolves and coyotes the same way, even though they seem to forget that coyotes have a slightly different face shape and less fur than wolves.)

Though I'm not really a sparkledog hater, or anything, I still find this picture very funny XDDD. I mean, sparkleanimals are great, as long as people don't put too much color in one space, but it's a whole another story if you draw a dog with very weird bending bones XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kuwaizair In reply to tehLuna [2009-11-03 23:21:46 +0000 UTC]

its just sometimes the people don't try to make the characters look like what they are.

"it is a cartoon", but the better Disney company movie's animals look like their species. Simba looked like a lion, not a tiger, puma or maine coon with short hair and bear ears

the brother bear grizzles looked like bears, the foxes in "the fox and the hound" looked like foxes, there are people who want to taken seriosly and repsected for drawing foxe's ears like this [link]
because VK 'started it"

its just, try harder to make something look like the species, these people don't. you only know it is a wolf if you are told so

[link]
realistic wolf

[link]
realisticish husky

[link]
husky?

[link]

[link]

[link]

granted if some of these were drawn in 'not the artist's style' then it won't be distinguishable no? so if i had a dog comic where my poodles looked like komondors then it will be 'everyone knows my work"

[link]
fox..well their first fox

[link]

making a species look like its species kills creativity. if we all drew foxes to look like foxes, and not some kind of cat bodied, rabbit eared thing with a chihuahua's face then...
still i don't want to buy it

Thundercat16 In reply to Kuwaizair [2010-08-26 23:29:22 +0000 UTC]

Wow... Those really do fail.

You know, I don't mind the animals that are cartoony-realistic, if you know what I mean.

It's like... They're not hugely detailed, but still have the basic anatomy of whatever it is, maybe with a weird eye style or something.

Like the Lion King, they weren't aiming for detail, but rather for the basic shape.

Kuwaizair In reply to Thundercat16 [2010-08-27 00:25:08 +0000 UTC]

they are based on true finds I see skinny fox-husky things and they call it wolf

tehLuna In reply to Kuwaizair [2009-11-04 20:51:00 +0000 UTC]

Wow, these examples... I never seen such fail in trying to draw something like its species. Those foxes look like puppies
But, yes, if we all drew wolves in those realistic kinds of ways, it would get a little bit too boring....
My suggestion is, if you draw a canine species like those three last ones, don't say it's a fox. It's an...uhrm... thing. But it's not really a fox. Foxes have way different anatomy and colors. It's a fantasy canine creature.
LOL sorry I'm not really good in debating and such.

Well, I know few persons, too, and they really have nice art, but when I try to make original characters with those natural colors, I always feel like something's missing... Psychedelic colors don't hurt... much.

This is cool I love it. There are too many people out here that don't pay attention to anatomy, that don't even try to correct it. I know my anatomy sucks, but I at least try and get better. I hate seeing those people who keep drawing the same thing over and over and don't even try to improve.

Crazy colors is a meh-not-really-much-of-an-issue-usually thing, and the over-reactive super nuclear wolves comics are a bad thing, but making every canine a skinny-ass fox with a huge tail and long legs is a whole 'nother thing entirely. I'm not talking about Disney style or 'Ginga Legend' style or any other cartoony style - you could at least totally tell a dog from a wolf and a wolf from a fox in all of those. It's people who just want to copy the style but don't see the anatomy who are the problem, really. (Or those people who just like canines because everyone else is into it and could care less that such and such cruelty happens to the REAL wolves or stray dogs. >> )
Hopefully all those sparklekids grow out of that stage. :>

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kuwaizair In reply to Ginga270 [2009-10-20 13:48:27 +0000 UTC]

using good colors wold be better too. its one thing to make a colorful character, if you know your color theroy and color wheel. Or even look to nature, and think like a graphic designer (i think the rule was 3 colors?)

but to put neon orange, baby girl pink, grass green, magenta, rainbow, black, white, lemon yellow, gradient crimson. is one thing.

OH mean I should edit to mention tatoos, you cannot tatoo fur! arg.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ginga270 In reply to Kuwaizair [2009-10-20 23:15:10 +0000 UTC]

Mmhmm, I could see that. Also if they were 'canineifying' an anime character that had like blue hair or green hair or something, that's understandable. But yes, there's a line between that and majorly over-the-top. (And I have seen that, believe me, with rainbow dogs that have blue spots and purple eyeshadow and green striped tails and...)

Oh, you know what? You need to mention earrings and other jewelry too. Because wolves totally can't pierce their ears, yet some people think their characters magically can, despite there being no humans to do it to them. Somehow.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kuwaizair In reply to Ginga270 [2009-10-21 01:31:16 +0000 UTC]

oh those are so weird. why not just go and stick with custom MLP? I want to make JD from "Scrubs" but i'm not going to 'dog-if" him I'll just make a pony (and try to send it to the actor who played the character)

I thought I did mention accessories, like with Brother Bear, would it been better if those animals had jewelry? "totemwere spirit-furries" and 4 legged fursonas do, the only odd ball thing in TLK was when Timone dressed up. But that was a gag.
