As much as I really, really hated this cliffy in the chapter, you really did a good job at making it look so animated! I'm also hoping that Mashima is trolling us, and I believe a lot of other people are too!

Undoubtedly right now Gray is dead. Not many can survive a head shot. However, I doubt he's dead for good.
If they were going to kill off Gray permanently I think it would have been a bigger plot point, instead of a side plot. In most manga's it takes either a whole chapter or many chapters to kill off a main character. Particularly because they are so strong.
They may even have him die fighting somebody important.
The only way I see this being a permanent death is if Mashima want's to go in a dark direction with Fairy Tail. It lets the readers understand how bad the situation really is. If that's the case then Gray was just the first death and I expect to see many more main/minor character deaths.
I have a few theories on how Gray might survive.
1) Some weird time traveling back to the past thing by Juvia and Lucy or just Lucy. Following the Future Lucy's story line.
2) It's not an ice clone. Ice clones can not talk or bleed. Plus if they were hit that many times an ice clone would have shattered by now.
3) Wendy or someone else will use healing magic on him. Since Wendy is currently fighting I see it being Chelia.
4) Lucy was reading from Future Lucy's diary and we saw it.
5) Carla is having one heck of a vision. (Unlikely as her normal visions are short and no one really talks)
6) Ultear will find away to use taboo magic and sacrifice herself for him. (Which Gray will hate when he comes back)
7) Possibly Meredy could use her Three Spread Sensory Link and save him that way.
What I really don't understand is why didn't future Lucy go back in time FURTHER then the magic games. Get to them before the magic games that way Fairy Tail knows what will happen and can stop a lot of it.
Anyway, I just don't think Gray will stay dead. Especially by the mini dragons. If he does stay dead well then I think it was a death Gray would be alright with as he was saving his nakama. If he does stay dead, well thanks for the memories Gray you will always be remembered and cherished.

I totally agree.... I don't think hiro would like KILL gray that quickly.... I mean come on , that dudes hot.... and he's on t-shirts and videogames, and like everything fairy tail, and if he did, It would bring MANY Gray fans into tears..like me.
1) I don't think its a clone either, I mean if it was like maybe a clone from that magic game arc episode, I don't think it'll be existing right now... or have any feelings.
2)I hope its future Gray, and like not gray right now. Cuz if future gray gets killed, then present gray would still be alive right now.
3)I think Ultear can probably use time magic cuz he said she can't use her magic on alive things....Well, Gray is probably dead by now rite?
4)And besides, IF HE DIES NOW WE'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT HE WAS GONNA TELL JUVIA?!!!!!

Honestly, I don't think Gray was going to do a declaration of love. I know everyone wants to see it. However, I honestly feel he was going to give her advice, or maybe warn her about the coming mini dragons. Maybe even suggest doing a unison raid.
Would feel OC if he just randomly confessed his love to Juvia on the battlefield. Maybe I am wrong who knows? *shrugs*

oh!!! I know this isn't really true, but if gray like froze himself or something?? I mean I know he's has ice make magic, and that doesn't nessaserily mean he is ice.....but idk!!! Maybe lyon's ice can like preserve life for an amount of time, or something!?

Ultear can use time arc. She thinks she's corrupted. She wants to change it. Using her magic on living things seems impossible. It's a kind of taboo. Whoever break it⦠Will probably die. Gray will die. She has a debt.
