Description Another picture that was taken during the fashion shoot yesterday.
Model: Ida

Post-processing
Decreased the contrast to get rid off clipped areas by turning up recovery and down the blacks in camera raw, also gave the picture a tiny bit more bluegreenish white balance.

Turned up the contrast a lot and gave the picture a blueish and cold tone with a black and white layer with a blue tint set to overlay (60%). Turned up the contrast slightly on the eyes only with a curves layer. Lightened the whole picture slightly with a curves layer and turned up the contrast some more with a black and white layer set to soft light (40%).

Cropped the picture to square and sharpened slightly.

The girl is stunningly beautiful in an unnatural way, as though she is a really delegate robot. I think it can be seen as a warm picture but also with a sense of science fiction.

I'm generally not one that's really huge on portrait photography, but there is just something so captivating about this piece! I just love it

Since the Critique Feature is only for premium user ( ), I'll do it this way ...

All in all: Really good job. Everything works really well together here. The blueish tone, the clothing, her passive/thoughtful look. Perfect. And also a BIG plus that you shared your postprocessing. Helps beginners and shows, that you are honest.

Hard to say what you could improve ... I think the blurred white areas are a little bit too bright. And I don't know if the square format is optimal ... but I guess you already checked that

I'm not a big studio photographer ... just my thoughts

Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to write a constructive comment, I don't get many of them

I agree with the white areas being too bright, I had some pictures whith a background without light coming from the outside, but her expression wasn't as good, and also the background was more boring, but I probably could have exposed the picture differently to save the burnt out areas and make them darker.

I think the square format works, even though I think it would have looked great in a landscape format as well. But the picture was taken in portrait format, and with the composition it had, it was either portrait or square, and square worked best

I'm not a big studio photographer either, I have taken pictures in a studio once or twice, this one is actually taken inside a parking lot, and was taken during a photoshoot I did there for a school assignment [link]

And once again, thank you, I really appreciate it

I help where I can

Of course it takes some moments to actually think about the pictures and write something.
But most of the time the author is more than happy about that.

I will watch you. Always nice to have some people giving helpful comments.

I thought about making some sort of "critique-group" here ... but don't have so much time at the moment. But maybe I'll find more supporter.
