Story/History:
Jamie was out walking along a dusty road early in the morning, the sun having just risen but the sky had progressed from the colourless state to the beginnings of pastel and withing minutes the sky would be burning with the colours that most people think of when they think of dawn. He was up even earlier than usual after hardly any sleep at all thanks to his restless mind. A walk in the fresh would help- it usually did. But as he passed one of the wooden fenceposts the grass on the opposite side began to move. Jamie stopped and looked over, expecting a rabbit or some other creature that would flee at the site of a human but was surprised to find a fluffy puppy staring up at him with big blue eyes and a rope collar with a tag sticking out from it. He kneeled down and called softly to the puppy who eagerly trotted up to him and sat at his feet, deep brown eyes staring into his own black eyes with a look that was a mix of happiness at being noticed and a melancholy that all abandoned creatures carry with them. Upon closer inspection Jamie found that the tag simply read FREE PUPPY under splats of mud.
"How would you like to stick with me?" he asked of the puppy who thumped her tail on the ground and stuck her pink tongue out at him.
