Description If you've read my book series, you'll know exactly what this paining is the minute you see it. If not, let me explain. In the second book of the Trailokya Series, Burning Down, there are scenes that feature a young artist named Marna. Marna has an important role in the outcome of the story. Zacharius, the protagonist's elder brother, is in charge of making sure she carries out her mission. During his work with the human, he's revealed himself to her. To cope with what Marna feels is madness overcoming her mind, she paints the figure haunting her and her home. What was fear evolves into intrigue and adoration. But, the protection of this skilled duta doesn't save Marna from the marditavya sent to burn her down.

The painting in the book is life size, so it's enormous. Marna's style is hard to capture with my own skill, but it's supposed to be an impression of him as she sees him--blurred and indistinct. In the book, it looks like she's run water down the finished piece, creating vertical brush lines that dominate the entire painting. There are grays and golds that make shadow on the face. As perfectly as I can see the book version, this is the best I can do at this time. Maybe someday I'll render a life-size work to do it justice.

Or...those pitches to studios will finally work out and it will be on the screen!
