I never said she was easy on the eyes.

When Sootstar was a kit, RemorseClan camp had caught fire, causing everyone to evacuate and find a new place in the territory to stay for a while. That would be where her scars came from. It took a bit to adapt, mostly because RemorseClan live in a tundra (which is basically the cold version of a dessert), and they live in a cave in the mountains. But she learned to persist, and now, the cold temperature of her inhabitance feels like nothing for her.

I imagine her outward appearance gives others the impression that she's as harsh as she looks. Like she's always irritable and angry, which isn't true. I don't know exactly what she's like, but she's probably normally calm and approachable. It's just that the way some of her teeth and claws are forever bared make it look like she's angry at something.
