At about that time, Studebaker was thinking about purchasing the tooling and dies for the Lincoln and selling it as a Packard.

Looks almost like a Lincoln from this end. I read that Studebaker was mulling over the idea of buying the '56 Lincoln body tooling from Ford and making that the new Packard.
