Description My 1973 Ford Gran Torino sedan "Sexxy 73" as she sat during Halloween, I went as Starsky and the Torino was his '75 Gran Torino "Zebra 3" (You can also see how bad the rust was on the rear quarter panels).

Reminds me of the old hit t.v. show, STARSKY & HUTCH
(their TORINO was RED and WHITE of course)

Hi Kyle, considering straight pipe installation?

I've considered it, but I don't always want to hear this thing. Reason being is, I love V8's and the sounds they produce, but I use my cars to relax and when I cruise sometimes I just want to drive, and in straight piped vehicles I don't relax, ever. I will be changing the exhaust of her though, but she will be quiet when I cruise but roar when I want her to be.

Yes, I understand, that's a very cool choice. Which engine do you prefer, a 302, 351 or want someting like a 428 CJ or something? For example, if I were an owner of '73 'Cuda, 340 ci would be enough for me. No need any Hemi or 440 magnum or 383.

In the case of this car, 302 is perfect for me. The fuel mileage for this car is actually amazing for what it is and it's fun just with the 302, I think a 351 would be too much fuel mileage lost with not enough gain in power for it, and 428 is just too much power for a four door daily driver. I actually may pick up a 429 '75 Gran Torino at some point soon. With engines it all depends on the factory options it came with and the car itself, like a 1970 Mustang should use a 351 or larger, but a '67 and earlier is good with a 289.

And a 302 sounds better IMHO. I have glass-pacs on Kermit (who is an F-250 everywhere but under the hood), and one guy in a brand new RAM 2500 thought I was pulling his leg when I told him it was a 302. He'd asked if it was a 460!
