New battles...old wars.

This is my poster design for the upcoming 2011 football poster. The concept revolves around the embarking of the university into a new athletic conference and the common analogy of sports with the intensity, focus, action, and chaos of combat. This particular sport features a squad mentality, as the players advance the play onto Omaha Beach on D-Day. I sort of imagine this as if they are taking the place of "The Fighting First" 1st Infantry Division who fought valiantly on the shores that June 6th of 1944. This image is a interpretation of my imagination and is comprised of probably 30-40+ different and separate photographs, mixed with created elements, blended and contorted together in an attempt to create an image that tells a story and inspires interest. I have to admit, this was an ambitious project for myself since I knew it would be complex to piece together and would require myself to grow my abilities to reach my goal with the image. My hopes are that it leaves a sense of aww and creates some heightened buzz.
