Today is Star Wars Day, and for this year, while I decided to do a Star Wars drawing to celebrate, I thought I'd also give some homage to one of the most heavily hated characters in not just Star Wars, but all of pop culture as well: Jar Jar Binks.

This character's gotten a lot of hate over the years, and if you've seen the Star Wars prequels, you'll know exactly why, but even though he's hated by many, I've always had a soft spot for this character growing up. I mean, I wasn't a big fan of him, but I didn't hate him either. Nowadays, I feel bad that he's been a target of backlash, especially after how this backlash affected his voice actor, Ahmed Best. From a story perspective, he was also a victim of manipulation, courtesy of Palpatine, which is unfortunate because people tend to put all the blame on Jar Jar for the rise of the Empire. Need I remind you that Palpatine manipulated EVERYONE as well, so pinning all the blame on Jar Jar is ridiculous in my opinion. Also, I never believed that Jar Jar was a Sith lord either. That's just some theory that some fans put together.

Regardless of all of this, I still thought I'd give some appreciation for the gungan who's been through a lot in this saga.
