entry for the cultural foods contest .
i drew east asia. china, s. korea, japan, taiwan, hongkong.

i think i overdid it. i shouldve just remained simple. /sob
and after reading something, i feel bad about entering the contest. but its my first contest and i probably wont enter another one anytime soon.
i swear this is my last time with this coloring style. i hate this style.

from right to left.

tea(china)
basically herbs + boiled water.
[link]

baozi (steamed buns)(china)
its flour bread thing that can have a variety of fillings.
[link]

mak kimchi(korea)
napa cabbage + spice and fish. i failed at drawing it. otl
[link]

sushi(japan)
fish + seaweed + rice + other things. raw meat can give you tapeworms.
[link]

mochi!(japan)
mochiko + water + suger and sometimes with red bean or ice cream filling. and food coloring. i like mochi.
easy recipe: [link]
hard recipe: [link]

baozi again.
in china and chinatowns you can find all kinds of decorated kinds of baozi. yea...
same goes with the 2 green eared bunny thing and whats in hongkong's mouth....
[link]

pearl tea (taiwan)
because taiwan makes the most pearl tea aka milk tea bubble.
i almost choked on one of the bubbles/pearls once. it wasnt fun. but the bubbles taste really good, my mom told me they were made out of plastic. lol
[link]

tang yuan (Gluntinous Rice Dumplings/汤圆) (taiwan)
there different kinds of tang yuan, but i wanted to do the common pink and white ones, since taiwan wears pink and white. ive seen them in rainbow colors.
[link]
[link]

bing tang hu lu / suger-coated haws on a stick (taiwans holding it)
traditional chinese candy. ive never seen them in america, and i only ate one before and that was when i was 5. ;A;
its really sweet. its only sold in china during winter though. and i failed at drawing this also.

[link]

this is such a long description. lol

sesame balls(hongkong)
you can find these in chinese buffets. derp. unlike you usually dont see tang yuan there.
[link]

white rice (hong kong)
you should know.
[link]

putting country's names next to the food was so you had a better idea for the location.

the frame was really hard to do. since i cant make straight lines.

hetalia (c) himaruya

something unrelated:
so, i heard that this is a photo of himaruya-sensei : [link]
and this is his user pics on livejournal : [link]
but then on himaruya's blog, he said that wasnt him

awww they all look so cute just one thing. China kind of looks like he is floating, his feet should be on the same level off all their knees so it's all even on the floor.
Overall it's a great picture looks very happy
