|| A Cabin in the Woods

He knew it was too good to be true. That it was too soon to relax. Brutus bristled at his feet as Key'To stared up at the haunting and creaking sight of an old decrepit cabin. He was still fairly certain they were atop his mountain. At least he hopes so. At the very least, he'd roamed millennia over these grounds and not once has he seen this shadow of human architecture. Artyom was a looming figure beside him, just a hint larger than than the abandoned cabin before him as if he were trying to make himself seem more intimidating. Key'To could sense no life beyond the darkness of the threshold as the dancing lights of the wisps floated before them. Beckoning. Taunting. Waiting.

Key'To bristled, his expression hidden behind his mask and frost spreading across his leaves from his unease. The ethereal feathers floating just above his mask glowed with an eerie light, its golden sheet which had once glowed in tandem with the wisps, now seemingly at odds with the haunting light of the floating flames. He exchanged a glance with Artyom, the large esk barely just glancing back at him, his white eyes nearly invisible against his face as the large esk's attention mainly focused on the wisps. Key'To turned back at the flames, its embers flickering as if waving at him to come forward. Welcoming. Calling. Before he shook his head and firmly turned away. Nothing good could come from this. And he feels like this impromptu journey is almost over. With a low growl from Brutus, the trio stalked past the house, not once looking back. The lights dimmed behind them as they walked, as if the wisps were disappointed with their decision, but soon the flames floated past them. Once again leading the way to whatever path they needed to follow next. He firmly did not look back, gesturing for Artyom to do the same.

Very little in this world unsettled him nowadays. And now felt like if for whatever reason they had entered the abode, something wouldn't let them leave peacefully.
