Description Quite a while I've wanted to 3D-print something. But i didn't know what to print, until ~Bezmo thought my Multi Torus whould be a good model.

So here it is. 5cm (about 2 inch) wide.
Printed by Shapeways in their material Strong&Flexible .

how much did you pay for it to have it made?

The cost where €4.02 ($5.24) for the model.

Problematic was the €8.75 (11.40$) for shipping. Which is kinda strange... considering they have an office in the netherlands not to far from my place. Shipping inside the US only costs $6.50.

To compensate this a little, i also ordered a material sample kit .

Had some friends at my place tonight. They were fascinated what's possible nowadays. I'll may use the 25$ coupon from the sample kit as a birthday gift.

Oh wow, that is very strange! Maybe it was some kind of flat rate shipping? I don't know, or perhaps the manufacturer is outside the Netherlands. I wouldn't know, you would know much better than I would, hahaha. I was guessing. The material sample kit is very cool. I was surprised you had it made in their flexiplastic and not the metallic material to match your original render. Was it cause of cost difference or did you just want to see it as another material?

That would make a really nice birthday gift!

My illustration and web design friend and I are thinking about maybe one day soon, purchasing a 3D printer of our own. Just a small thing, nothing large or commercial scaled. What worries me is maintenance and materials. I don't know how that is going to work, but we'll see.

Yes the shipping is flat. No matter how much you order it's the same.
The Multi Torus in stainless steel would cost €20.60. I wanted to test the service before i spend that much money. Now that i have the metal sample of my sample kit, i think it would be very cool in metal.

If you're interested in a personal 3D-printer this kickstarter project might be something for you: FORM1
