Description A few hours had passed since the Romano incident, the Axis and Allies remained separated during that time. While the three nations were obviously just trying to recooperate from being attacked and just plain being out of balance, the Allies took their time going to a diner down the street for lunch. But once the wounds were tended to and the rest of the nations came back, everyone seemed ready to proceed with the meeting as planned.

Of course, when they returned this time, Prussia had a small bandage on his head and Japan had a large bottle of water next to him, probably to hydrate him from whatever was causing him to fall over continuously. Germany took in a large yet quiet inhale through his nose, knowing that now there weren’t any distractions to keep them away now,

“All right. To begin, does anyone want to ask about what happened?” he asked, not exactly sure how to start this out, but exposition seemed like a good way to go.

France nodded, as did several others, and he leaned forward in his chair to hear every word they would say, “What exactly happened on that island when we weren’t looking?”

Germany frowned at this, his gaze falling down to the table as he began to tell them the same tale he had confessed to his brother weeks ago. He told them of their lack of food, of Japan’s ingenious plan of how to get some, and then the grizzly details of what had happened that night. Despite the incident being now about a month and a half ago, no detail or dialogue was fuzzy to them in the very least.

All across the table’s edge across from them, faces began to pale and some even cringed during some of the actions. How they were able to pull this off in such a state was unbelievable.

“Then in the morning, the tide had seemed to wash his body out to sea and then you found us.” Germany concluded, finally looking up to look at the horrified and subtly disgusted faces in front of them. He furrowed his brows slightly in worry of their full reaction, glancing over to his sides to see how his comrades were doing.

Prussia had his head up straight and was giving them all a hard look, as if daring them to speak out against Germany. Despite having his head bashed, he probably wouldn’t object to attempting to kick someone’s as if they called him a monster. Meanwhile on the blonde’s other side, Japan had seemed to very lightly sink into his seat, his head having lowered to stare at his knees, and if Germany didn’t know any better he could’ve sworn there was some tears teetering on the edge of his eyelashes. He frowned further at this, knowing that Japan did really feel guilty about this after all.

“Just… why?” France asked, bringing Germany’s attention back forward to them. “Why did you have to resort to that? Couldn’t you have fished? Couldn’t you have found fruit on the island; it was in so many places!!”

“When we arrived, yes, there was enough food.” Japan said, looking up and blinking a few times to try to keep back the glistening blurriness in his eyes. “But in those weeks, we caught no fish, and we could find no more food. If there was more, we had no strength to go that far. We had no choice if we wanted to not be captured by you. Supernatural beings could only be summoned a few times to stave you away, after all.”

“That’s right!” Prussia spoke up, banging a fist onto the table to try to give emphasis, “I mean, yea it’s weird they’d resort to cannibalism, but it’s not like he’d full die! And besides, you guys were probably eating the rest of the fruit and the other fishies so they couldn’t have any!!”

“But, we didn’t eat the fruit,” Russia commented, giving a smile as if that was obvious. “Having wild raw fruit in a wild jungle and raw fish from a large sea? That just sounds unhealthy to me! After all, who knows how many bugs and parasites were in them”

The three of the Axis perked up at this, glancing at each other in confusion at this before looking back to them.

“… If you didn’t eat any of the fruit or the fish, or at least raw as you keep mentioning,” Germany started, dryly gulping as he felt some dread pressing into his chest, “what did you eat?”

“We ate at China’s place!”

Japan raised an eyebrow at this, “but… China’s home is far far far away from Seychelles… how could you possibly-“

“Let me answer your question with another question,” China suddenly interrupted, scooching forward in his seat so he could look at the three a little more closely, “Did Italy ever tell you about what he found the day before you guys gutted him?”

“What he found?” Germany asked, his eyes widening as this was all extremely new information. He knew that sometimes Italy would wander off, but mostly when he came back he always reported he didn’t find any more food. But… the day before… when he returned from his wandered, he went swimming, he never actually made a report. “What… w-what did he find?”

“On the island, I have a Chinatown!” China admitted, smiling at the recollection of the villa and the nice little bustling town on that island. “I saw you guys like, three times honestly. One time, Italy had found it out. I did offer him some food but he rejected it, ha, that kid was a trooper.”

At that moment, everything just seemed to crumble on the two guilty nations. Japan’s arms went up in the air in a silent exclamation of surprise, quivering as he just stared at them with wide confused eyes and a slightly slack jack in disbelief. Though it wasn’t long till his arms fell down and he gripped his forearms in an almost self-contained hug, scratching at the outline of the gloves that was underneath the fabric.

Germany wasn’t taking it all well either. He just stared at the Chinese nation in shock, not doing anything, not even breathing.

If they waited… if they didn’t do it… would Italy have told them about the Chinatown? Why didn’t he tell them about it before? But they could have been saved… if they waited…

His eye began to twitch, then his hand, and soon enough he felt his shoulder’s tremble as well.

“West?” Prussia called out, eyebrows raised in concern as he turned toward his very pale brother.

Germany sat silently for a while longer, his whole body slowly turning into a trembling mess as he tried to keep back everything that was going through his head. But really, he wasn’t able to do that for too long. He blinked a couple of times; hot tears accidentally spilling out down his cheeks before he finally screamed,

“WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?”

A gut wrenching sob escaped his lips as he curled up his arms on the table and smothered his face into them, muffling any other sounds of sadness that started to freely release itself.

Prussia jumped at the sudden outburst but frowned at how destroyed his macho little brother suddenly was. He scooched his chair over next to him and gently starting to pet his hair, quietly hushing him to try to calm him down. “It’s going to be okay… what’s done is done.”

The rest of the group looked at each other a bit awkwardly, knowing that their witnessing a genuine mental break down and there wasn’t really anything they could do. They had to continue forward, but exactly how?

England once more cleared his throat, leaning back in his chair, “So… maybe we need another break?”

“Yes, that uh, may be for the best,” France agreed, looking back to the crumbling nations as he swore he almost felt sorry for them.

With that being all he needed, England stood up from his seat, gesturing the others to stand up with him. “We’ll come back here in an hour, hopefully this time being able to talk about a search party strategy.” With another flick of a gesturing wrist, the others began to follow him out, Russia herding the rest of his union at the back of the line.

Once they were alone, Japan began to hyperventilate silently to himself, slowly unwrapping his arms before standing up. “I-I… I need... something.” He shakily muttered, tripping over his feet to exit the room as he subconsciously pulled a small black silk baggie out from his suit pocket.

Prussia looked up at this, jumping up to his feet as Japan practically rammed himself into the door before opening and wobbly running out. “Japan!! Wait! You can’t go anywhere in your condition!” he yelled. He looked down to the German for e moment before petting his head one more time. “I’ll be right back, West. I’m gonna go make sure he’s okay. Stay right here.” He said before he went out of the room.

Silence filled the room as now the blonde was the last one left. For a few moments, the nation stayed still, but soon he lifted his head from his arms, sniffing and slightly hiccupping a tiny sob before wiping his eyes. He took deep breaths to try to calm down, slowly starting to get a hold of himself once again. Yes, awful things had happened, but they had to go forward. They had to find him. He had to fulfill his promise. He-

“… Mr. Germany? Are you all right?”

Germany blinked at a new voice filling the area, looking over to see Russia’s eldest sister closing the door to the room. At being in someone’s presence, he wiped his eyes a bit more and smoothed his hair one more time to make sure he looked presentable.

“Ah, yes. Just a bit shaken. I… had no idea that Italy did that, or that there was a town not that far away from us. It was a bit much to take in.”

Ukraine gave a nod, adjusting her shirt carefully to make sure her button wouldn’t pop off again before walking over to the German. “Mm, well it is quite a crazy situation to go through. The other quickly got out of his seat to greet her, standing to his full height.

“Ah, I’m a little embarrassed honestly, they must think of me to be a weakling to break down like that. It was very unprofessional.” Germany sighed, glancing to the side as a small blush of shame began to heat his cheeks. But surely they must understand.

“That’s right. You’re very weak.”

“…. Pardon?” Germany said, looking back down to the Soviet woman. Before he could even open his mouth to say anything, Ukraine grabbed his shirt and suddenly pivoted, shoving the large man against the wall with an incredible push of strength. “wh-what!?” he grunted, looking down at her, and his eyes widened as suddenly her eyes had began to burn with an enormous fury. Where the hell did this come from?!

“How dare you do such a thing. To your comrades no less, those that who are the dearest thing and practically your family” Ukraine hissed at him, her grip on his shirt tightening as she moved her legs to make sure he couldn’t try to move away.

Germany’s eyes shifted from confusion to fear at an instant, knowing that he was practically powerless in this position. He opened his mouth to try to defend himself, but suddenly he stifled a gasp, feeling familiar cold metal pressed against his neck, looking down to recognize it as the same knife Romano had a few hours ago.

“A long time ago, when my siblings and I were much younger, there was a horrible blizzard and we were trapped in the same situation you were in,” Ukraine said, twisting the knife slightly to have a better leverage for the blade could be set against his jugular. “We were cold and starving, and I could have been able to sacrifice one of them to keep going. But know what I did??”

He tensed at the pause, knowing she wanted him to guess what happened.

“N-Nothing?”

“That’s right, nothing.” She said, her hand holding the knife beginning to shake very lightly with contained rage, just as the user of that knife did not too long ago. “I knew better than to sacrifice their life for only my benefit. We suffered, but we suffered together as a family.”

“But… i-it was Japan’s idea! I had nothing to do with it!!”

“That doesn’t matter!”

Suddenly with a swift kick to the knees, Germany felt himself crumble down onto his hands and knees, still feeling the knife against his neck. But he couldn’t even manage the courage of looking up at her in this state.

“Even if it wasn’t your idea, what matters was that you went through with it. Italy is dead and it’s your fault. You were his protector, his friend, and you betrayed him. You disgust me.”

Germany winced as he felt a spat of salvia hit his cheek, but soon after the knife was removed from his neck, and then there were only footsteps then the door closing.

He shook once more, feeling the spit trial down his face and didn’t even feel the want to even wipe it away. She was right. She was right, he could have just ignored Japan and they could have all still been together. It was his fault.

It was his fault.

It was his fault.

“Ah, West, I’m back! I brought Japan too!”

Prussia grinned as he opened the door, having a now calmer Japan in tow with him. His smile only lasted seconds though as suddenly something large bumped his shoulder as it was heading out of the room. He spun around, seeing Germany quickly running away to head out of the main doors. “West?? WEST!!!”

It’s all my fault.
