Description And ariel!!!

Watched the movie at the cinemas with my lil sister a few weeks back. The trailer looked pretty good so i was sorta hyped

ANyways, despite the neat visuals and nice ost, at first the plot seemed to be going everywhere and random plot devices were being thrown in for a plot-centric story- not impressed. The characters weren’t outstanding and the premise of the story was a lil weird at times (then again, the premise made for some very endearing moments). But then the second half came. The final battle scene was pretty stunning tbh. ANd then the fEEEELS- somehow okada managed to pull it off?!?! Started crying, though my sis held them tears in- she’s tougher than me

In hindsight, a lot of the characters/events made sense and contributed to the central theme of motherhood but during the screening a lot of moments felt forced.jpg and even unintentionally hilarious. ANyhow it felt a lot more impactful than some other recent anime movies *coughkiminonawa**coughsideglare*

Maquia was definitely flawed but overall it was pretty emotional and yup, would recommend!

Thanks for reading this weak review??¿ (more like blab haha)
The ending creds though > youtu.be/HcuTxMwNrr4

Cute piece!

I liked the movie. But I think the story would have been better served as a TV show. Like you said, many of the secondary characters felt like they were short-changed in narritive (mainly Krim, Laylia, Medmel, and the half-Iorph dude who never even got a name).

^o ^ omg yes someone else who's watched it!!

yeah wasted potential :'C
it's strange because the individual scenes are almost perfect but when you look at the story as a whole there's so many... holes

That's actually a good way to sum it up. There are certain scenes of the movie that are so good I can watch them forever. But, as a whole, it leaves you with a ton of questions. Poor Laylia's story could have been a movie by itself (and the movie REALLY should have explained why she was so cruel to her daughter at the end after spending the whole film longing to see her)

I really hope they do reboot it as a series someday. I get that the movie wanted to focus on Maquia herself and the theme of motherhood. But a TV show could touch on things like what happened to the other Iorph people, who else took the Iorph girls, the backstory of the half-Iorph dude, how Maquia&Laylia went about rebuilding Iorph culture, etc
