My submission to the Kitsunegamis to earn Orin his 5th tail. This is all about the 4th Event: The Portal of Awakening. More specifically, Orin’s Awakening.

The image takes place three days after a very stressful talk with Yami, one of the leaders of the Kitsunegamis (that story can be read here: What feathers may be ). Orin loves the Great Sakura tree, it’s always so calming and peaceful. Winds gently sway the branches, pettles seemingly dance to the ground in their own mystifying ways. Orin loves to come here in the late afternoon, when the sun is at such an angle as to create jigsaw like shadows along the garden’s edges. But this recent visit has turned unexpected. Now with a fourth tail to call his own, Orin finds himself on edge. Thee tree seems to...speak to him.
As he listens, Orin’s body seems to warm, making him shift uncomfortably. A shadowy white figure could be seen darting across the branches higher up. A squirrel maybe?
Orin takes a big breath, and exhales at the tree.

His first manifestation of his unique Aura takes form. A misty white breath escapes from his maw and travels up to the tree’s center. It wasn’t cold out, it was the middle of summer after all. But the breath wasn’t warm like he had predicted. Anywhere it touched, it formed tiny crystals that shimmered in the afternoon sunlight.
Taken aback at the surprise, Orin gazed up at the tree, now frosty with his aura. Was this his doing...? And why?

The creature that slinked under the canopy settled on a branch, smiling down upon him. He gazed at the being, wondering why it looked so....familiar.

Aaaand, end of short story. Rushed, I know. >w<

So there we go! Orin has found a trace of his Aura within the very air he breathes. Who is that mysterious creature? Why does it make his heart race every time he spots it? We may never know.

Can you spot the mysterious figure?
This drawing was done using a looooot of pastel paints, and some new brushes recently added to my studio. I mostly used a rounded and edged paint tool, but used a more solid lineart for the characters. The rocks were created using lovely charcoals. (Before anyone asks, yes this is digitally drawn). XD
