WOW! I'm personally not really a fan of ponies, but damn! This is just magnificent! It definitely caught my eye as I was browsing through my overstuffed inbox.

The colors used are gorgeous and your technique with those pencils is fantastic <3. I like the simplicity of the background, it makes its presence as a background, but helps the complexity of the subject matter stand out.

The muscles are very well done, and I really like her tail! also its a nice touch you did, putting little tufts of fur just before her hooves. The cast shadow is nice, and making the hind leg farthest from us darker really adds a nice feel of perspective to the picture.


A few things I'd like to make note of, however, is the hair on her head, it looks sort of... choppy. Like, hair should flow a little more than is pictured. Of course, in the mindset that this IS a pony, it could just be a style issue, noting how the tail is very nice and flowy. Oh and, the cast shadow adds a nice touch, but it's kinda bland just being all one color like that. perhaps you should try making it darker where the hooves touch the ground, then lightening it up where the rest of the body is. Shadows fade over distance after all c;

Lastly, I'd just like to mention the wings. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely in awe of how much detail you put into the feathers. However, wing anatomy is a little bit more complicated e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="19" height="19" alt="" title="Sweating a little..."/> See, feathers on a wing are arranged into different rows and sections, like the marginal coverts, primary flights, etc. Knowing in the back of my head that this is a fictional character and based off of a cartoon, I could just pass this by as a style issue, but I feel like I want to push harder because you were going for that semi-realistic style. Looking up tutorials and diagrams of wings really helps!

A gist of the wing structure is that the wings are organized into several groups. It starts with the Marginal Coverts, which are the feathers that cover the "arm" of the wing. They're typically small and compact, most of the smaller ones being bunched together on the "underbelly" of the wing, and larger, flatter ones being on the outside. Then, the Primary and Secondary Coverts come in, the first layer of actual feathers. The difference between Primaries and Secondaries is that the primaries connect to the "hand" and "wrist" of the wing, and are usually pointed away from the wing. The secondaries are more rounded in shape, and make a half-moon from the wrist to the body, and connect to the "arm" of the wing. Next come the Flights, same deal, just longer xD other little ones you can easily miss are the Alulas [the "thumb"], the Tertials [the ones that "glue" the wing to the back], and the Scapulars [these are on the back itself, connecting the shoulder]. Of course, again, fictional character, this much stock isn't particularly necessary. Oh, and on the back of the wings, the "top" side of a feather overlaps, while on the underbelly of the wings, the "bottom" side of a feather overlaps. This is difficult to explain in words, so taking a peek at some birds could help c;

But I mean hey, this really is a beautiful picture. Did i mention the face yet? No? Oh my gosh, the face looks amazing! I like how she's almost roaring, it shows how strong she is. I always love warrior-like females c: It really is a great picture, but with just a bit of tweaking, it could truly be astounding <3 Hell, what am I talking about, it already is outstanding!

To start off, I just have to say that for a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic drawing, you don't usually see something like this! I love that you made something that usually looks whimsical and cute into something so dynamic and strong.

Anyone could see that you obviously worked very hard on this! The anatomy is perfect with both the body and the wings. I also have to mention the colors are beautiful. The light and dark hues give this depth.

Overall, I think this is a very impressive piece that was very well done with amazing anatomy, beautiful colors, and a powerful stance.
