Description This will be the final render [for now], but I'd still love for you guys to be picky and point out any problems you see.

--Description:

It's name 'Allure' means 'the power to attract'. It was designed to tie in with the form and flow of my concept motorbike, found in my gallery. It's motor is mid mounted, behind the driver, and it features a new style of door I have named "Gilotene" doors - Because of the slicing action they make when opening and closing . I'm fairly certain this style of door is unique, feel free to prove me wrong.

This is my first shot at car design, and I'm fairly happy with the result. Modeled and rendered in Cinema4D, designed with good 'ol pencil and paper.

Comments, crits, insults, compliments, random messages, it's all welcome.

Doors looks brilliant, neat flow of everyting, except the front of the car, which I feel is a tad short.

Thats a really sleek car design, the closest thing I've seen to those doors are the sliding rear doors on a minivan, but those don't slide upwards any. I can see a little Diablo and Gallardo in the design, but its still very original, and looks good
which is quite an accomplishment from a car design standpoint.

Check out my gallery if you get a chance, I'm into car desgn as well, but have only done one low poly model so far.

I've been looking through your gallery, gawking at your concept vehicles and they all refer to C4D as the software you use. I've never done any of this sort of thing but I'd like to try it out. Is it very difficult to figure out? I know some of the more powerful programs are pretty complicated and not easy to figure out how half the stuff works. Is this something anyone can do or do you need some kind of training like CAD, etc. Also, Is this one of those really expensive programs? I'd hate to be put off from the whole thing because of cost. Thanks and I really admire your work, everything looks so real, very professional work.

im guessing the reason for the lack of detail is because its a um well, a WORK IN PROGRESS!!!!!!.....lol....anyway I totally agree with ya, he does need to add some more stuff to it. what do you suggest? I suggest some seats, not racer style but luxury style but with a hint of sport.

and where does he say this is a 'work ik progress' you fuckin genius ?

his exact words are 'This will be the final render'.
so shut it and mind your own.

Hey it looks good The Small render in the middle the shadow looks wrong under the car.. If u look at the back wheels you can see the light in the middle of the car coming in through the back windscreen. Other then that its good

Oh and was the light coming from the front lights added in photoshop or in c4d?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

L-X In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-17 21:07:41 +0000 UTC]

C4D, a few point lights in the headlight positions. No photoshop work apart from the composition.

ragingpixels In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-23 16:51:48 +0000 UTC]

also known as lens flares....c4d lens flares i mean., much better than PS's, you have way more control over the contrast, size and brightness and even color and shap and reflex design as well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Snipehunter4 In reply to ragingpixels [2006-05-24 01:50:08 +0000 UTC]

Ok.. ill have to figer out how to put them in.. or if one of you can tell me that would be great

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ragingpixels In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-26 18:42:11 +0000 UTC]

make a light object, then in its properties, goto the Lens tab(might be Lens Effects, since you have R8, I forgot the exact steps) I belive, anyway you have a glow and reflex tab and they should have an option that says inactive, anyway click on them and change them to something else, glow is the star, reflex is the well you'll see. To edit them(make your own), click edit, it should be somewhere, if not, then there might be a tab that says Glow Editor, from there just fool around, if you cant figure it out, ask your dad.

Ok ill try that.

L-X In reply to ragingpixels [2006-05-23 22:35:29 +0000 UTC]

I hate photoshop flares, you have to be really inaccurate when you're placing them since I cant figure out how to zoom in when you're in the filter menu But C4D's lens flares are way better, theres a list of like 20 of them

Oh ok, I was thinking of doing a concept car but im not very creative.. wouldnt know where to start.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

L-X In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-17 21:08:24 +0000 UTC]

The best place to start is with a pen and paper. I drew the side view of this car about 50 times before moving onto other views, and then finally going into C4D.

Wow you must have put alot of time into making that, I might start puting some ideas on paper -.- . Im Modeling the engine for my R34 at the moment.. I havnt seen anyone with a model of a car with the hood up so I wanted to try it.

if you like the R34, just concept out your R34!, thats what I did a while back, I concepted out my Murcielago to look like this crazy ass monster concept.....(can you see the murcielago within????):
[link] careful, high res, 1.6MB, because its got 12 different views and colors in one image.
final render of it:

and with dragon ball characters(I drew them, i know, different and odd looking):

Snipehunter4 In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-28 00:43:24 +0000 UTC]

I have been making it myself with points :$ I know you can do it with an image texture and bump map but whats the procedural map?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

ragingpixels In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-26 14:17:00 +0000 UTC]

thats just an alpha, but im sure you know all about that, anyway do you use an image texture when you make your grills or do you use a procedural map, such as the BhoodiNut Tiles material type that you can set in the regular material shader?

ragingpixels In reply to Snipehunter4 [2006-05-28 04:40:56 +0000 UTC]

its pretty much like textures, but they dont use external image files like regular ones do, its just a set of calculations done at render time, like your metalic style colors, any non external coloring style that is made using ONLY the program is known as procedural, such as making wood with the layer material type, or blood vessels with nukei bumps. all are procedural.
