trail 1: the heart is home
every morning the relentless calls of the marsh birds wake her. and for a moment she's transported back to her youth, with the bickering of her parents ringing through her ears, eyes shut tight again. it passes, it always passes, and she comes to. her den is cramped and the roots lining the ceiling always drip to create pools of mud around her. any place, she concluded, was better than where she came from and she considered herself lucky to finally be on her own. slowly she rolled over to lay partially out of the den and let her eyes adjust to the morning light.
okay this took forever, maybe some day i'll get faster at painting backgrounds aaaa
