Description
I wrote this whole thing out and then accidentally refreshed the page and had a mental breakdown
;-;.
Obviously none of this is canon, including the part about Seawings abolishing the monarchy (I might write more on that another time).
General:
Lostwings live on the continent of Ailurus- in the steep, snowy canyons. They are a proud and independent tribe that try to separate themselves from the others. Females are larger and have an additional set of wings, along with more saturated scale colours. This is because traditionally, females would need to be strong enough the carry and defend their flightless young. Males caught prey for their family, so having only one pair of wings made them more agile and more successful in hunting. Modern day Lostwings tend not to stick to tradition as much anymore, so both males and females can hunt and fight. The tribe were given the name “Lostwings” by the other tribes on Ailurus, because they had never actually given themselves an official name. This is because they view themselves as separate from the others and don’t think they need a name. They were originally named “Canyonwings”, however for a long time none of the others ever saw them, so they believed that the “Lostwings” had disappeared. Dragons began joke about them being lost from the others, which is where their current name comes from. The nickname stuck, and now that’s what everyone calls them.
History:
When the Seawings abolished the monarchy, the royalists were told they had to either leave the Kingdom of the Sea or accept the new way of life. Many of them followed a dragon named Carp over to Ailurus, in hopes for a better life there. Somehow, the group ended up arriving in Lostwing territory. They were allowed to stay, as the Queen at the time (Shale) was feeling generous, however after a while the exiled Seawings decided they wanted revenge. Carp went to Queen Shale to ask for her help in war, however she refused. Refusing to give up, her turned to one of the heirs to the throne (peregrine) and promised to help her kill Shale in exchange for help. The plan worked and the Lostwings went to war with the Seawings under Carp’s command against the others on Pyrrhia. The war lasted several years until word got out that Carp had helped kill Shale, which made many of the Lostwings turn against him. Consequently, he was lost the war and was killed by an enemy Seawing general.
Abilities:
Instead of being able to breath fire, Lostwings can release a fog-like substance, which is used to distract and confuse enemies. The strength of the “fog” varies from dragon to dragon, so similarly to the Seawing animus test, Lostwings must take a test to determine the strength of their fog. Once it is determined, they will be given something to wear- the colour based on their strength. They can wear anything from a scarf to a wristband to amour, if they are a guard.
Ability colours:
Grey- Abnormally weak (Very thin gas/harmless)
Blue- Weak (Slightly denser than grey/harmless)
Green- Average (Normal density/slightly difficult to see through/can make it slightly harder to breathe)
Yellow- Strong (Slightly thicker than green/difficult to see through/can clog up lungs and make it harder to breathe)
Red- Abnormally strong (Very thick gas/extremely difficult to see through/can be dangerous if too much is inhaled)
Black- Dangerous (Extremely dense/impossible to see through/can cause temporary or permanent blindness if exposed to for an extended period of time/dangerous to lungs and in rare cases can cause death if too much is inhaled)
*Most Lostwings have abilities between blue and yellow, and occasionally red. Fog strength that is Grey or black is an extremely rare occurrence.
*Some dragons are born with mutations, which can make their gas unusually cold (like frost breath but not as dangerous) or unusually hot (like fire but less dangerous), however these are rare and don’t usually happen.

I can’t believe I just spent all that time writing this out-
