but ive never see a picture this close

Maybe if you can't see the drive man has for war. In the end, it's a horrible thing, but something that will always be fueled by man's desires.
War is hell, but one the man's will requires. All and all, at least it isn't as bad as the fields left over in Europe.

Depends on how you want to look at it. Awesome as in magnitude, as in the sheer amount of will that went into the offensive and defence, and so many other things.
