Description Subject: Poor fish
Medium: Clay, glaze, blender parts
Size: 15" (height)
Time: 20 hours

Artist notes: I'm a newbie to ceramics. Be gentle.

This project was to take a tool, I chose a blender and have it be utilized as something else. So instead of a blender being used as a blender, it is now an aquarium. Everything is ceramic except for the cord, the plastic jug part, the plant and rocks. I would never REALLY blend a fish. The fishie is most definitely made out of clay.

Edit: Oh my word. A DD for me! Thanks a million to 2dazed .

Awesome work!

So what happens if you plug the cord in? I think an LED lamp in the pitcher would be awesome

Thank you. Unfortunately... or fortunately nothing happens when you plug it in. I like the LED idea though.

Kind of reminds me of how we used to keep our goldfish , I disassembled a really old blender and took out all the electric parts and cut the wires. Then plugged it in and filled it with water XD. Whenever people walked in my kitchen they thought I was a sicko xD.
Lol this is awesome and a well deserved DD. 15"? Nice
Keep up the great work!

Interesting - have you heard of a Danish artist named Marco Evaristti? His work, real blenders inhabited by live goldfish, was exhibited in a Danish museum, and naturally the working blenders which could be switched on or off by the viewer's whim caused an uproar within the animal rights activist group: [link]

Naturally, this is reminiscent of him; this concept seems to be employed often, that is, toying with the fragility of life

Laartista In reply to cheeeeep [2009-05-28 02:26:51 +0000 UTC]

thanks. actually i hadn't heard of him until today. a few other people commented regarding his poor fish. i could never put a real fish in a blender. i would feel horrible.
