Nope, but the trolls do have a thing for violence and he was in a pretty blind rage. I kinda sympathize, I had to learn to control my own rage at a young age and it wasn't easy.. and there were times were I did hurt those closest to me... afterwords I felt bad about it but during.. I did not care. They were in my way.

it took a bit to find the other path for me too.. Over by Dave, just go southon the screen (ignore the obvious stairs..) there is a arch in the wall and a path that takes you down to the rest of the area.. you can talk to (well listen in on) Karkat and his ansestor.. and then meet terezi's and kanaya's..
