Jacob! Jacob and Sons!..I've had and I'm going to have Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat music stuck in my head FOR EVER. At least I did all the while drawing this picture! Meet Kazkuno, my new Bori. (: He's clinically insane. This picture started as a petpage header, but I don't know how much I like the pose.

What shading and color (if there is a such thing) style do you use?
Do you scan pictures then digitalize them?

To color (in photoshop,) I create a new layer under my outline layer, and I color in the entire thing one solid color. After that, I build up on layers, each containing a different color. Say I'm drawing a dog: I'll color him entirely light brown, then create a new layer for some darker brown spots wherever I want them to go. Then a new layer will be created each for the eyes, nose, tongue (if I so choose to have one,) etc. I try my hardest to stay inside the lines, but if I overdo it a bit, I'll select outside of my outline (on the outline layer,) and go to each of the coloring layers and delete everything that extends out of the outlines. As for shading, on the main body color/s (light and darker brown,) I'll select the light brown (since it covers the entire image) and create a new layer over the darker brown-- But under all other colors. Then I select a new, softer/smoother brush, a nice dark purple/blue color for shading, and shade areas as I see fit. The shading will at first come out bold and blue, so I tone down the opacity to an average of 25%. Then, to color other portions of the image, I'll select the nose color, create a new layer over it (but under all other colors above it,) shade, decrease the opacity, and so on and so forth.
Before I had a tablet I used to scan and digitalize pictures. I'd draw them out on white paper, scan them, and either make them completely black and white so they would become pixelized and color and cell shade on MS Paint, or I would leave the pencil/pen lines and just color in layers under them in photoshop, OR I would draw over the lines on a new layer with the contour/bezier tool in photoshop, and color under it. As soon as I got my tablet, all of that changed. Now I can draw straight onto the computer and not have to worry about mistakes. I can always go back and change them. (Though, sometimes {read:all the time} I'm too lazy too. xD)

i would love to have a darigan bori, i swear, but i used my fountain faeire one time offer to paint my one & only bori ghost because darigan wasn't out yet. when i saw the 'species' i was so frustrated because i would so much rather have a darigan over a ghost bori. but ghost is cool too. i guess.
