You're improving a lot in terms of painterly quality.

Ha, I honestly don't think I've ever actually studied anatomy (of non-human things) which is horrid. Thanks so much for the link! Will definitely be useful.

If you're going to continue practicing with speedpaints (which I hope you do), doing a bit of anatomy study before hand and trying to incorporate that in your painting would probably be pretty helpful. Have you had to do 1-minute gesture drawings in figure drawing classes before? Things like that I always felt were amazingly helpful for capturing the anatomy and feeling of something, humans or otherwise.
I do hope you keep at it. I've thought a lot of the paintings you've been submitting recently have been awesome - I just tend to be a lurker.
