Did you paint this from life? And I'm curious: do your friends--and other people you paint--dress this way for your paintings, or do you incorporate the clothes yourself?

I took reference photos that I used to actually paint from. I had my friends dress in costume for the photos (my friend Lynette wore one of my Regency dresses and my friend Mike had his own costume). Everyone if my paintings does actually dress that way!
