11.4.10Finally updated again... more butterfly changes. Stupid things.
10.13.10
Changed the color of the butterflies and added moar desu... and then realized I'd forgotten the bow on the dress. OTL Also, I added my signature down at the bottom. I need to start remembering to do that ;;;
I got a new butterfly brushhhhhh~~~
And crappy compression is crappy! D:< Full-size plz!
This thing has been slowing down my computer for like two days now. Not fun y'all. I don't even know why, it's only like 25 MB. (<.< )
I drew this originally for a Theatre project where we talked about ourselves, but the background was different. I spent the last three days noodling about and adding this new background. 8D
It's not desu-y enough. Needs more DESU! D:<
Enough about the technical aspects, let's talk about what's going on. It's meeeeee... sort of. It's me from my head. In my brain I am, what else, the ruling power of all that goes on... a goddess, if you will. (<.< ) Not IRL, that's crazy, but I think I count as a god in my own head. Dx It's the only way to explain the crazy age-gap between me and some of my chilluns, and that I can make anything I want to happen. I like my mind. It's fun. :,D

But what's with all my friends and butterflies lately, it's like everyone's going on an Umineko craze, lol!
But seriously, we good gawdly artwork going on here! ^^b
Exquisite clothing, fine soft shading, good anatomy (well... maybe the hands a touch big and the feet a touch small, but hardly noticeable), interesting haze effects, and a face that's so saturated with win, it could overload.
There could be a little more vibrancy in the luminosity of the butterflies, as the overall effect is definitely more muted than in the Umineko butterflies. But as it stands now it's very effective at conveying good lighting effects. ^^

Now that you mention it, though, those feet are too small. OTL I'll fix it, thanks for pointing it out. But the hands... I was so lazy on them, I think I'll just leave it. They look like Ryukishi hands... (
Mmm, I haven't been happy with the butterflies and messed with them more than anything else. I'm still not satisfied. |: I don't like the color... I dunno. /shrug/

hehe, yep despite the fact that people tend to think of Barbiesque feet as the norm when it comes to drawing women (I'm looking at you, Dreamworks!!), I'm a fan of more realistic portions.
In fact, the only complaint I had with this commission piece is that Reina's feet were originally half the size....

...which is sacrilege considering Reina-sama's height. ^^
So that got fixed (sort of, factoring in the angle), and so now C-quel is happy. ^___^
As for the butterfly lighting,...
I think it has the right idea, but we definitely need more luminance.
And for that we look at our friend The Match:

The idea behind really shiny lighting, especially for flames and neon lights, is that you want a perimeter of darker rich colour, followed by an inner coat of a much brighter colour, and then a core of pure white. The darker perimeter helps accentuate the white portion making the overall effect look really bright; and more so because beyond the perimeter you will have that haze effect to add an effect of brilliance on top of that.
Course, it might be tricky since the butterflies are so oddly-shaped, but if you're willing to try it out on a copy, see if it works. ^^b

Yeah, I can see how that would be a problem, but at that angle properly proportioned feet are like... you either hit it spot on or fail miserably.
