inktober day 21: Ness
I was really busy today =_= sorry it's really sloppy, I wanted to get inktober done today so I could rest a little.
I forgot to set the resolution size before drawing even so it's a little tiny and bad quality DX SORRY
I'll get some rest now that busy weekend is over and get back to trying to make better inktobers~ sorry
anyways, I had been playing Earthbound again. Still a great game.
Decided to draw a good boy because of it

I got to play and finish this game myself for the first time this year, after years of only watching lps and videos about it.Β
I am so happy, it ended up being a lot easier to play than I thought it would be for a SNES era RPG (I played SNES, but, I missed out on its RPGs).
Eventually, I wanna play Mother 3, which I've also watched a bunch of lps for, myself.
I STARTED Mother 1, but, I don't see myself committing to it.

I didn't play it until later on myself, actually it wasn't until playing smash brothers brawl that I became interested in the series.
MOTHER3 I played first, and then just reading Jeff's trophy description how he rescued Ness and Paula from zombies and I was 'wut?' so then played Earthbound and gosh I am glad I did.
MOTHER1 is a little more difficult in my opinion, it has that really vague NES vibe that they just want you to wander until you figure things out or talk to the one person who can tell you what to do
...I personally do not enjoy that kind of gameplay despite growing up with that kind of genre.
so I don't blame you if you don't want to finish it.
I enjoyed the characters and world though even still~

Jeff is absolutely my favorite character in Earthbound, saved my ass in battle a number of times with his technology.
I don't see myself committing to MOTHER 1, but, I feel obligated to at least acknowledge it, due to it's importance to Giygas's backstory.Β

it's funny Mother is all about being an America-themed RPG, almost like that old joke about peasants and knights and such playing "Apartments and Accountants," but I discovered Ness in Smash Bros first and my young weeaboo self thought he was the Japaniest thing on two legs. The cute voice clips and idiosyncratic powers cemented that. little kid in shorts and baseball gear.. right out of a Godzilla movie. It never occurred to me til later, after I'd already homaged the hell out of him in my comic, that he wasn't a normal RPG character archetype

I actually decided not to play earthbound because it wasn't set in the same setting as all the other JRPGs I played.
I'm a huge JRPG fan and in the SNES+NES era I was mad inlove with getting my hands on any one I could.
Between all the final fantasys and dragon quests, I just didn't care for a modern US setting because I didn't think it could be good.
Glad I finally gave it a chance
took smash brothers brawl and MOTHER3 to get me interested, but man I was glad to be wrong.

that's how I feel about Phineas and Ferb. had no interest in boring clichΓ© suburban "hay kids go outside be activ haha" bullshit and the art looked awful, then I finally gave it a try and realized the writing was a masterpiece.
